Tdi tuning modules

Featured Replies

They do work but............................................. they do and will put the engine management light on!

That was a basic resistor type, not sure about the more expensive ones.

But if looking at the more expensive one, why not go for the One Click??

Group buy going on here.

Had mine about a month

Switch it back to normal before servicing then back again. Mines on a Co car so sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh (mum's the word!!!!!) :D

Sounds good, is it just a plug in box or do you have to visit AMD to have it fitted

There are a few threads on here which give good info.....Look under group buy.

Basically give AMD your ECU No, they send you a module with upgrade map on it, plug into OBD port and upload info then remove. Do same again to go back to normal.

A lot better than a tuning box IMHO.

Please note though that no good looking on AMD website as the One Click is not advertised at all!! Not sure why??

Try looking under group buy for more info.

Thanks for that Charlo.... now all I have to do is check the finances

I have a standard 20 quid eBay tuning box and it takes 5 minutes to fit and does make a big difference to the car. Ad reckons about 25% increase and I can believe that and torque is noticeabley increased. Never had the check engine light on, but I've yet to plug VAG-COM into it to see if any errors have been logged. Car runs completely fine ... or it did until my clutch pedal snapped

Chris

Oh and also see a significant increase in economy, but don't get Ivan started on that again ;)

Hi

Emailed Dragon and they say it won't show up, providing you take it off of course! but I just wondered if anyone had actually tried it out by plugging in a vag-com in to check.

Just seems cheap for such a large performance gain... it would put my pd 130 up to about .........wow 160bhp.... but do I have to tell the insurers and how much extra will that be.

Sorry to hear about the clutch pedal though, never heard of that happening before.

Faboka_vrs was running one for a while and his check engine light came on. He took it off and the dealer said he had a duff fuel sensor which may be a result of the ECU being confused by the signal the tuning box is sending. Easy enough to reset the error code with VAG-COM. As I said previously though, I've not had an CEL errors so I'm happy enough it's not logging any errors, but I don't have a warranty to worry about so it's not really an issue :)

Well, it's your decision, but I would recommend telling them everything :) I'm sure all the insurers rate it differently so worth getting a quote and comparing it to the insurance for a remap. Mine was cheaper. Can be fitted and removed in about 5 minutes......

Apparently a few people have hit it when they pass the magical 60k miles mark so hopefully it's not going to be too expensive to fix!

Thanks for all that ScoobyChris. what I may do is get one and see as it looks like they do a 30 day return if not satisfied..... and 30 quid won't break the bank whereas

They are about 30 quid and there are loads on eBay - just find an auction that's an hour away from closing and bid on that one. Mine came from a German seller and I was the only bidder on it. :D Know of several people who paid the same, so not a one off.....

Chris

Just seen you have a non-PD engine - I believe the tuning boxes for these are slightly more.........

Chris,

I'm talking specifically about the Dragon tuning box which the link directs you to.

There are a lot of tuning boxes out there for anything up to

I notice Dragon are now selling the standard plastic Tuning box that doesn't require any wiring and a new TUV approved electronic wiring that needs a lead soldering onto the air flow meter.

Is there a vast difference between the two?

I suspect the digital unit with airflow meter input will be a bit more accurate with the fueling.

Cheers

Lee

Got a chance of a module for the price of a failed recent bid, can't believe the other one will stay that low so I may go for it.

There's a few people on the feedback forum saying they get better mpg but we will see, all I do at the moment is school runs and dropping the missus of at work and I'm getting around 29mpg on the trip so when I get this module I can judge from that.

My son tells me "it's gotta be done" so here goes.................

I'll let you now when its fitted.

Tuning module arrived and fitted.... what a day to try something that is supposed to give your car more power! It's a different car now, no more sudden burst of power it just keeps on pulling and the scenery does go by a lot quicker, I don't have a clue what the power is now (was 130) but easly kept up with a Mini Cooper S, will have to check the minis specs and compare that will give me a rough idea.

Now where can I drive next?

 Not bad for 30 quid, eh? ;) Oh and you will notice an increase in fuel economy too

Right! new front tyres on Saturday, driving this in all this rain is like being in charge of a surfboard!! wheelspin in 5th gear puts a large grin on your face but slighty worrying at the same time.

Is this the start of the slippery slope towards more power? it'll take a while to get used to this first.
