Favorit Blackline cutting out

Featured Replies

my loved Favorit wont run for more then 5 mins befor the engine gos mad and cuts out. it seems to loose its firing order i have tried changing the coil and crank sensor but its still the same. Am thinking of letting it go for spares now as its to good to scrap. If you can help please let me know thanks.

Does it have an immobilizer?

No it dont have one i think the ecu is messed up. when it runs its fine but it only works for very short times its a 135b engine i dont really want to let her go but dont see i have a choice :(

Does the distributor have play in it (move rotor arm left to right)? Have the valve clearances been checked recently? Cleaning the throttle body could be worth a try. Have you checked the voltage of the battery and the charging system? Maybe also try disconnecting the battery overnight which should reset the learned values of the ECU.

Favorit immobiliser would stop the car running altogether unless there was a fault, but such a fault would be obvious as the light would flash again :)

I think the consensus is the ECU's either work, or don't work at all (no spark), as they're quite a basic setup with the bosch monomotronic system?

:)Also, give the fuse box a wiggle and a wack to see if that makes a difference...especially if the screen leaks on that side. I know that sounds rediculous but Favorit fuse box faults are common.
