I have read that Fabia 1.4 16v engines from 2005-2006 are prone to severe bore wear. Is this true and what can you do to prevent it?

I thought it was mainly the earlier ones (upto 2003) with the AUB engine that had the problem and that it was the piston rings rather than the bores themselves?

I think it seems to affect cars which are very low mileage for their age rather than ones that get used a lot, but I could be wrong.

Oh good - thanks. Mines a BBZ engine and I havent heard any horror stories so far:)
