connection point for voltmeter

Featured Replies

Hi is there a point which supplies battery voltage when you unlock the car and cuts off the supply after about 20 minutes of ignition switch off I seem to recall vag cars having something like that. I want to install a voltmeter which would display the voltage when I get into the car but will not remain on indefinitely any ideas? thanks. Roomy

Could you not use something like the radio feed that comes from the ignition? Although that would not be available from the point of unlocking the doors, it would be there when you turn the key, and again it would turn off once you pull the key out (unless you want to see around and see what happens to your battery voltage for the next twenty minutes after you have stopped  )

Thanks for the reply I was at the car today trying to locate various points and noticed a couple of things after switching off the door open sign goes off in about 10 minutes and much later the cabin light cannot be switched on even manually so I think there is something that cuts the supply and am trying to find out what. For the time being I have put it on the S circuit which remains on till the key is withdrawn.
