inside / outside protection?

Featured Replies

I am in the near future to pick up a new FL VRS the dealer is of course trying to make a buck with offering autoglym lifeshine. i am kind of tempted but dont really know anyone who has ever had this kind of treatment done most i know say its not worth it but have never had anything done with it. i am tempted to get it done but have heard its probably better to get a pro detailer to do it not the dealer.

i know you can get the kits on ebay and the like (lifeshine, diamond brite etc etc) how hard is it to do, i wouldnt say i am the best detailer in the world but dont mind a bit of elbow grease and waxing the car it usually comes up well. the only time i have ever used a paint sealent was a long long time ago and ended up with smears and swirls all over the shop (it was halfords own about 13-14 years ago) what i dont want to do is end up with my nice new car and then being a muppet going and making swirl marks or marking the seats etc (as i am also tempted to do the inside too).

is it easy to do? am i liable to make a mess of it? and ultimatly is it worth it?i like cleaning the car but time wise can probably only wax it once every couple of months the rest of the time its a quick wash

its not hard to do i done my brothers vrs. a good polish and then apply protector like wax. apply protector to lint free cloth and apply, let dry and buff its that easy. the interior protection is spray on apply in a criss cross pattern. I used the autosmart silverseal kit not mad expensive. if you want anymore info send me a pm

So then the next question is it actually worth it? i mean some big claims from most of the manufacturers. or would i be better off not being so lazy and cleaning and polishing the car more often (probably if i am being fair about once every 6 weeks at the moment for a good polish but once a week or so for a wash) hoping the new car will make me clean it a bit more often i am sure it will! so is that better than going for one of the treatments? must admit the interior treatment probably appeals more than the exteria, as those that seam to confuse me with the family taxi are a little how can we say this .. less caring about if they cake the car in sweet wrappers and mud!

It isn't worth paying for the dealers to protect It. I had the complete superguard treatment (exterior/Interior) thrown In on the deal when I bought my vRS second hand from the dealers as a complementery offer & what a complete waste of time It was. I'm really glad I didn't pay for It, In fact I wouldn't have paid for It anyway. I ended up stripping It off a week later & did a proper job on It myself.

So get off your lazy bum & get It done:sofahide:, or If you still want to be lazy, you could pay me to get off my lazy bum & do It for you for a small fee:P

The other thing Is If you buy all the products & do It yourself, which will be hell of alot cheaper anyway, then you will have lots left over to last you to protect the car many times over:thumbup:

The LifeShine product in reality is not that durable and there are better products on the market that will do the same job a lot cheaper and achieve a better finish.

Getting a dealer to do the work is an option but it is all about the preparation before this is applied, if the dealer employs someone to just apply the finish then they may be sealing in defects and scatches..........:o

The LifeShine interior kit is OK but the best thing in the kit is probably the Glass Guard, works well and last a fair old time..........

The other key thing to remember with such finishes is if you spend the money getting this done then you need to spend the money washing and protecting your car safely in the future.........
