well i got round ma n pa's on saturday to use the garage cause of the weather but after a couple of hours (did a few other bits as well) the filter was fitted and running sweet.

anyway, heres a few pics.

top one is before work started, then airbox out and then stainless housing in place.

these next couple are maf and stainless pipe conected and fitted then filter in.

the smaller filter is for the end of the return to airbox pipe, you get a steel bar to bolt this down but i couldnt find anywhere i was really happy with so i just cable tied it to another hose.

i've got an avi file to but i'm not sure how to upload this as i havent got any web space to host it.

can i attach it to a post ?? it's 4.4mb

fitting was easy enough, i did have to cut a small slot into the side where it sits into the wing cause the bolt for holding it into place didnt line up, nothing major just a snip with some metal cutters and the job was done.

hardest part was joining the maf and the stainless tube together, i could take the maf sensor out of the housing cause of the poxy security screws they've used on it so had to be careful. in the end i used a rubber malet to gently tap the two sections together, you do have to heat the pipe though to make it expand slightly. dont think they'll be coming apart though

i have got to ask, what is the point of fitting an induction kit :confused: if you have no cold air going to it. you may as well fit a panel filter in the airbox and modify that. this site is worth a visit http://www.autospeed.com/ for tuning advice. search on articles about pressure drop and air intakes.

Utilises the same air inlet as standard......you can, of course, add further ducting from the lower grill if you like.

It's not all about airflow....also air temp as well.

Standard airbox has quite good airflow once you stick in a freer flow filter and cut out a few internal webbing fins. However it's not so good on the temp side.

to be honest i havent had chance to really try to see, on saturday when i fitted it it was p*ss*ng it down and every time i tried to boot it the wheels would spin up and the ASR would kick in, then SWMBO was in the car for every other journey. On the way to work this morning the traffic was too dense to have a go anywhere.

One thing i have noticed is that the car feels more eager low down. I'll give a better report on performance when i work it out myself

SWMBO actually likes the sound of the filter, she said it reminds her of a scooby and said it reminds her of when we first got the R19 and i bolted filters etc to that. i was surprised to be honest, she said it sounds better now than it did standard !

i do find myself short shifting through the gears when driving normally though, you can hear the turbo spooling from as little as 1500rpm and the recirc valve dumps loudly at as little as 2000rpm, the induction note is pleasant and you can somehow feel the acceleration and speed more when theres a bit more noise, the one thing i didnt like about the car before was the lack of noise when you went for it, at least it has some now.

i was thinking about adding some extra piping for airflow as i did on the R19 but to be honest i dont think it needs it, if it did i'm sure Jabba would have included some in the kit. Also in this weather the standard air intake piping is more than enough.

i'll find out on the way home from work today how the new filter copes with heat soak in traffic... somehow i dont think its going to though. with the bonnet down the stainless housing round the filter creates a box which is nigh on sealed from the engine bay.

the dv sounds louder as the noise your hearing is coming out through the filter.induction noise on turbo charged cars is very little compared to n/a cars, this is down to the turbo - although that said you do get some noise. the only way you can compare intake temps is to get a temp probe pre turbo and carry out proper research.
