Hi! New VRS owner - slight issue

Featured Replies

Hi all, Thought i'd pop by and see what people thought of the following issue I have with my 07 Vrs, I've owned the car now for about a week and I've started to notice this really annoying rattle comming from the dash. This rattle is not like what others are getting or have had comming from the central console vents, mine is comming from the passenger side vent area or behind the passenger airbag area. I have taken the glove box out to cancel that out being the issue, and I have tried opening the door with the car moving to see if it still rattled. Low and behold it does and it's putting me off bigtime. The noise is comming out of the dash not down below it, if this makes any sense. My question is - with the car being within the manufacturers warranty would I still be able to fire it back? or would the dealer ( bristol skoda ) try and fob me off? what are people's views on this.

Any help is appreciated, as I can normally put up rattles, having owned a S2000 in the past etc, but this rattle on this car is givin me reasons not to enjoy it.

Thanks for the help

Gav

Remove pollen filter and check for debris in the airbox. Noises from the dash area can be deceptive, make sure seat belt anchors are not touching the centre consul. You can pad the consul with a bit of foam where the anchor strap touches it.

Sounds daft I know but if you open the bonnet where the hinges meet the bonnet there are two small black rubber pads. Turn them 1/4 of a turn and remove them. These cause a rattle that sounds to be coming from the dash it drove me nuts till I found what it was. The pads are there to support the bonnet when closed but mines been fine. Hope it is that if not there a few dash rattle threads on here.

Just another thought, the end panel of the dash can rattle on the passenger side might be worth a look.

Regards Chris

I agree debris in the pollen filter would be my guess

I know what you mean about a rattle spoiling your enjoyment of the car, mine has a few creaks here and there, seems worse as the weather gets colder.

Ever since I started playing the new Rammstein album all the rattes and squeaks have miraculously gone away.

At what point do you get this ratlle ??

At idle.

When pulling away

When slightly depressing the clutch & or above clutch bite ...

Reason being, A dual Nass flywheel Rattle resonates in that area ....

Hopefully not that mind you ....

Had similar issue, which was seriously annoying. Improbable though it might seem, the culprits were the rubber pads that Chris has mentioned. I didn't remove them however, I just put a spot of silicone grease at the interface and , viola, rattle no more.

thanks for the replies, it's appreciated.

I can hear the noise virtually all the time, even on a smooth surface like a motorway etc.

I wasn't sure if it sounded like a metal sound and not plastic, this is my gut feeling.

Lol, Yea just turn you're music up. I've got loads. Yet to buy the new Rammstein album. Is it goo tonto? I've seen their new video though :)
