Yeti V BMW X1

Featured Replies

It's not that small, just not as big as an Octavia. It is not dissimilar to my old BMW e39 touring. It is not deep.

You learn to pack vertically. I have removed the spare wheel false floor and tied the spare to the floor. I can either tie it up whilst it is standing up, or leave it on the floor upside down.

I have had a 5.3m tall post and banner inside the car. Luckily for me it telescopes to a lot lessemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

WIth the spare it's about the same as the Fabia Hatchback, which is a small car.

Coming from an Octavia Estate/Scout it is something to bear in mind.

As I said. If you need a BIG boot, go for the Octavia Scout.

I test drove an X1 before I got the Yeti. The X1 is a fine motorway cruiser, well built and comfortable with plenty of room. The Yeti is far better in terms of handling however, I don't mean throwing it around a race track I mean around town, country lanes etc. The BMW is simply too top heavy and cumbersome when you veer off the motorway. As with all BMW's it is also toyless unless you spend a fortune on extras. If you are a rep doing 30k miles per year then get the X1, if you are a normal driver then the Yeti is better by far.

I agree re the handling, my previous car was a Fabia Vrs which was excellent around the country roads where I live. The Yeti is not quiet the same but still has far better handling than I expected.

Dave, I think that is what surprised me most when I test drove the Yeti. I expected to sway around corners but it simply doesn't. Clearly it is not going to hug the road like a VRs but it is a different animal. I don't like to just pan other cars eg X1, as all cars have something going for them but for me the extra you would need to spend to get a half decent X1 makes it a no brainer against a Yeti.
