I have 8 lives left...

Well done Skoda for making the Fabia VRS a sturdy wee bugger.

Car slid on a slick from a dump at the top of a hill last night and proceeded to 180, hit a fence. roll at least twice and the skid along on the roof.

All I have to show for it is a cut finger - and that's only after crawling back in for the log book and documents!

All said and done i was very lucky.

Been to the pound this morning and the car is a mess. Roof bowed in, windows smashed, bumber in half, tyres torn from wheels, pillar bent, and some minor scrathches from tarmac surfing. Total write off.

Oh dear ... poor little Furby :( At least it did its job in not getting you killed/harmed! :)

I'll miss her dearly! But as you say did the job. Was amazed at the seat bealt holding me in the seat while i was upside down.

Have to admit to releasing it and battering myself off the roof lining. Getting out was the main priority.

Been there, done that, got the slightly achey neck from dropping out the seatbelt whilst hanging upside down.

Glad the car kept you alive though. All I had was a small cut as well, from crawling on my "roof" to get out, and there being the blown out remnants of my rear screen all over it.

No stiff neck! Thought it be in the post today but avoided it!!

Also something that has struck me is that the airbag never deployed!?

You didn't have a front-on rapid deceleration, so why would they deploy? :)

just thought it might have cos i spun about a lot and rolled a bit. But hey i'm not complaining!!

Here's me thinking you had Killed a Cat by not using the Search :D Re. Your title ....

Good news that your Ok & shame about the Motor mind ...

My airbags never went off either. No front end impact at all, so pointless really. :)

Plus, it netted me £400 when I broke the wreck up, for the "dash kit"

Glad you came out of it ok. I suppose the car did what it was designed to do and at the end of the day it is a lump of metal and plastic that can be replaced!

Air bags would not have helped one bit in this type of crash as their sole purpose is to decrease the deceleration of your head and body being flung forward such as in a head on collision.

If you look in your hand book for the car it should explain the conditions in which the air bags will go off and have a little diagram that shows the impact areas on the front of the car that would trigger it. This is the case with mine anyway so would expect the newer ones to have the same information.

Hope you get everything sorted ok and the insurance claim goes smoothly. Let us know what will be replacing the furby.

Hehe. Sounds like a good plan.

What about a Felicia?

That way you can stay in the Skoda fold but have something ****!

If you stay away from a poverty spec one you will still get ABS, Airbags etc etc.

AND another Furbie on its roof!

Glad you're ok

I'd imagine you'd fancy something safe again though, you started this thread thanking your fabia for protecting you and if you replace it with a rust bucket then should the worst happen again you may not be so lucky...
