Difference between columbus and borelo

Featured Replies

i wonder what the technical differences are, because what i can see they look exactly the same, im thinking of fitting one of these badboys in my future octavia

Welcome to the site :)

Bolero = Radio/CD/SD card player

Columbus = Radio/CD/DVD/SD/Sat Nav

Fairly major difference

Unless the Columbus is running the 2664 firmware, you will be limited to using a 2Gb SD card, whereas the Bolero (I think) can take up to 32Gb

Others no doubt will be able to list numerous other differences, these are just the basic ones

I'd also suggest having a search to try to download the user manuals which will have full specifications

Main difference between the 2 of course is the lack of sat-nav on the Bolero.

and you get an extra four buttons to play with :D

i talked to a friend of mine today about putting a bolero in a octavia RS -06 and he told me the cost like 10.000:- (10,000.00 SEK = 958 euro) for an original skoda unit, is this real, he told me that it would be cheaper to buy an double-din unit instead,

and second question what is you opinion on 8 or 12 speaker system does the "big" stereo sound much better? cause im having a hard time finding a station wagon with both rear parking sensor and big soundsystem in sweden :)

but i still want the big stereo though, is there a lot of difference between the sound in terms of sound quality is a subwoofer includer in any of the packages?

i have talked to my friend that works at a skoda/vw dealer in sweden, and he thinks its a great idea to buy a bolero unit from one of you guys, but i asked him about the difference in sound between sound system and regular speaker setup, can anyone tell me the technical difference between the two systems? he talked something about a separate amplifier under one of the seats? and that its not always included? it sound really strange that skoda would randomly put an amp only in some of their cars?

Thats the system used in the Audience upgrade which I think is no longer available. Its certainly not relevant to the Columbus/Bolero units, although you may want to add the additional amp and speakers if you wish.

to sum things up. If i want to go for an second hand bolero unit, i will be best of to look for a car with 12 speakers, and then i cant get any "more" sound in the car, as long i want to stick with original speaker setup:s? have i got this right now?

do you mean that audience is no longer availible on newer octavias?

I find the 8-speaker setup, with Bolero to be very good indeed - especially for a standard system, with no changes/modifications and no external sound processing or amplification. There's no doubt that the internal processing by the Bolero is far superior to that of the Stream that was originally fitted to my car.

I'm in the process of selling my car, hence the Bolero for sale. Have a look:

No problem shipping it to Sweden for you :thumbup:
