Maxidot

Featured Replies

I apologise if this is a question which has already been dealt with. In the Sept 09 brochure it lists as an extra:

3 spoke multi-function steering wheel for radio, Maxi-dot and paddle shift (DSG only)

Does that mean (assuming the car has DSG) that Maxidot is automatically included?

Or does it have to be ordered separately?

Thanks

It doesn't actually say that in the on-line brochure I'm looking at.

Options for the L & K are :-

3 spoke multi-function steering wheel for

radio and telephone with Bluetooth®

and paddle shift (DSG only) £515

Options for the vRS are :-

Bluetooth® and telephone function for

multi-function steering wheel and Maxi-dot (DSG only) £480

Which model are you referring to ?

3 spoke multi-function steering wheel for radio, Maxi-dot and paddle shift (DSG only)

IMO this refers to the Elegance model as a £330 cost option and is only available if you order the car with DSG

If you are going for a manual, you can not have the 3 spoke wheel.

However there is an option of 4 spoke wheel with radio controls and Maxidot for £225

or Maxidot by itself for £125

I think Maxidot's an optional extra on any spec below L&K.

The "DSG only" bit refers to the paddle shift. Since with a manual gear model the paddles have no function. They are just a way of changing gear from the steering wheel.

Without Maxidot you could still use the paddle gear changer and radio buttons.

If you have a FL octavia you WILL get a mfsw with maxidot. Skoda (and VW) have moved the maxidot controls from the stalk to the steering wheel on all FL Octys and New Golfs. And maxidot is std on the octy elegence

yes

On the FL vRS, Maxidot is optional. But if you go for the Bluetooth option (£480) then Maxidot is included in that option automatially. However the Bluetooth option is only available (on vRS) with the DSG box.

Hope that helps.

Thank you as usual for the kind replies. However I am still not absolutely sure what the answer is!

I make it INCLUDED 4 NOT INCLUDED 3

I was referring to an Elegance DSG (either 2.0 PD or 1.8TSI). I was using the Sept 09 brochure.

Incidentally, I found this whilst trying to decide on petrol or diesel. Its rather good.

I don'nt think that is correct. Maxidot can be ordered as an cost option by itself on all models except 'S' and is standard on L&K. There are then further options of MFSW with Maxidot

Maxixdot is not listed as standard on Elegance according to the latest brochure (Oct 09)

I contacted Skoda about this, plus a dealer on two occasions. On the vRS, Maxidot is NOT standard at any point.

The only way to get Maxidot is to either order it, or add the Bluetooth system.

You may also want to try out their petrol - diesel comparitor which gives and indication on how many yeras it would take to break even.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/petrol-vs-diesel/#manu=10172&model=1276&deriv=42068

As an example if I had bought a 1.9 diesal instead of a 1.4TSI petrol it would take 4 years at 12000 miles per year (and as I only do about 6000 miles per year then it it would take twice as long).

If you do a high milage or need the extra torque for towing then the diesel might be the better option but who knows how the price of fuel will change in the future.

On the Elegance, S, SE you can have Maxidot and or MFSW (4 spoke) and bluetooth.

BUT

On a VRS, you must have DSG to have the MFSW.

Ah, another look at the latested brochure and I stand corrected, maxidot has been dropped as std on the FL elegance.

It was ever standard on the FL??

I got a new Elegance, delivered in September.

No, Maxidot was never standard on Elegance spec cars.

Yes, the steering wheel package(s) include Maxidot, it doesn't have to be ordered separately.

Skoda UK, brochures and dealers are often ambiguous on this point. Actually they often basically read the brochure back to you, because they don't know the answer. I tried repeatedly to get a firm consistent answer but it was impossible.

Don't pay extra for Maxidot, but to cover yourself, insist it's written on the form you sign, that way you'll have come back if by any chance your car turns up without it.
