tyre fitting and pressure

Featured Replies

i got some new falken fk452's 205/50/17s for the front of my vrs and i have been reading up on tyres and fitting and i have some questions

my first qeustion is, were is the dimple in my std alloys that indicates were the uniformaty mark that should be lined up with the red dot on the tyre i haved looked and can't find one

seconed i'm going to use the -10% of max pressure method on my tyres but there are 2 max pressures on the tyre, 1 says 50psi and the one on the warning lable says 40 psi which one do i use? my guess is 40psi-10% which gives me a press of 36psi

AFAIK the dot on the tyre should lined with valve, not sure about you're other question tbh.

HTH

Yeah it should line up with the valve, but how many garages actually do this!

Why dont use just use the standard pressure mate? or go up a little by say 2-3psi.

.

None too my knowledge, I always have too tell them too do it.

Then they think I am joking most of the time :rotz::rotz:

according to the tyre bible the yellow dot does line up with the valve but if the tyre has a red dot too the yellow one is ignored and he red one is used as in my previous post

question is does it actally make and difference ?

It's too do with the balancing iirc, if it's lned up then the wheel "should" need less weights.

I think lol

Yep, the yellow (or red if exists) dot should be aligned by the valve because this is heavier than the typical rim, and marks the light spot on the tyre. I've not had a tyre that was dotted fitted otherwise.

Ref pressures, unless you have a very specific reason for doing otherwise, use the recommended "normal load" pressures inside the filler flap, normally 30 to 33 PSI I think.
