Gaaah!

Hello all,

Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong place, just wasn't sure where it would fit best. Feel free to move it if necessary.

Right, I have a real hang-up on wanting a Fabia vRS!

I don't know how many of you know my car, but I've done a fair bit to it in the last 18 months to improve the performance and make it my own (a vRS wasn't a viable option at the time), whilst looking after it to the best of my abilities. Naturally, I have a fair attachment to my car as a result. I'll post a pic or two of my car if anyone wants to see what I'm on about.

However, I keep finding myself looking on here, AutoTrader, Pistonheads et al for a facelift black magic Fabia vRS. But since my current Fabia has some toys (heated seats and cruise), plus the fact I'm a fussy bugger, finding 'the one' is tricky!

It has to be black, has be under 40,000 miles, has to have xenons (cruise can be retrofitted and I can live without the heated seats, as nice as they are) and has to be a post-facelift one. Why black? Well, I fancy myself as a bit of a detailer, and I think freshly-detailed Black Magic looks the business. Silver is nice but boring in my opinion, and I like the yellow but could I live with it day to day? Not a big fan of red cars...and the Race Blue SE is too much money at the mo.

I did have an idea to convert mine to vRS-spec, but the complexity and the fact it still wouldn't be a vRS puts me off although a vRS bodykit in Graphite Grey would look good.

This has all been spurred on yet further after the other night, when I sat in Dazjenks' silver vRS and noticed how much comfier the seats are, and how much nicer the black pillars and headlining are.

Naturally, if I were to get a vRS it wouldn't remain standard for long, and would soon become 'my own'.

I have the bare bones of a plan in my mind. My college course involves spending approx. 3 months at sea from about Easter, so I was thinking of selling my own car on before then and sourcing a vRS upon my return. Any better ideas?

I doubt I'm really interested in any other make or model of car at the moment, my only 2 cars have both been Fabia's and I want to scratch this vRS itch  but I'm still torn!

Help talk sense into this poor confused young lad...and sorry for the rambling!

Thanks,

Andrew

Right  going off to raid the back of the sofa...

Seems like a good plan to me

Yep sounds good too. I always fancied an Octy vRS ever since having my Fabia 1.9 TDi. So I got one.

Possibly should be moved to fabia 1 forum, and if you agree, give me a nod by PM and I'll move it next time I log in.

My advice? Nike - Just do it! ;)

Do it! Do it! Do it!

Are you sure you want it in Black. I agree Black does look the best coulour when it is washed & polished (although IMO Blue is even better) but you will end up washing it all the time as it does not take time to get mucky again.

Have you checked the classifieds on here (probably a stupid question) or checked fleBay for possibilities? What price range are you budgeting for?

Good luck with your search.

Thinking about it, Orta is selling his Black Fabia. Or Amy H has a very tidy red one for sale. Both with some mods.

In my experience if you want it (and can afford it) then go for it, cos until you do, you will always think why didn't I?

Go on, scratch away as the itch wil continue until you do. :D

Andrew your more than welcome to a wee whirl in mine!

I think you'll enjoy it!

It's a no-brainer! Good luck finding the one you want, as xenon-equipped ones aren't that common really - given that they were a fairly costly option.

You won't regret it

Nice, but quite pricey for an 04. It's also not the facelift that Andrew's after. Original rear lights give it away, as well as the dash...

Hello again

Sorry for the late reply, but the site's been funny lately, well done to the admin team for sorting it.

I'm pretty much decided now...I need a vRS

I'll be looking at cars in the 5k-8k price range (I'll have some spare cash after my trip at sea) and even though that's a wee while away, I'm already constantly looking :rotz:

Thanks for the advice everyone :)

Boy, this site is going to cost me even more of a fortune

Are you sure you want it in Black.

Yep. I enjoy keeping cars clean and in good nick.

I'll happily take you up on that  never been in one on the move. Ta muchly

Thanks :)

As much as I'm behind you getting a vRS, I'm sad your elegance won't get the bumpers & Leather!

Blacks the best colour! ;)

Why does it HAVE to be post face lift though? The shorter box & 3 point centre belt phased in as of 04, dunno when the xenon option was added though but that one up there has em. And the ASZ doesn't suffer stutter! Rear lights can be had for £50.

Rob :)

Oh, and remember to buy a centre dash cubby to shove in the elegance before you sell it so you can keep the draw for the vRS.. cheaper than buying another draw ;)

Yeah, it would be a smart looking car if I were to do that, but it doesn't make much sense to do that knowing full well I want a vRS  I'd advertise it on here first, so maybe the next owner will get around to that ;)

Black IS the best colour  Machined my dad's Black Magic Polo in the summer, and it really is a gorgeous shade.

Hmm, hadn't thought of it like that...I suppose it's just that my own car is an 05, and maybe I have a slight hang-up on buying a car older than the one being replaced...which is a bit silly really if it's the 'right' car. Would be cheaper too...food for thought, definitely.

Good idea  Thanks for the advice bud.

Reckon my car would sell on here?

I'm sure it would sell, with heated seats etc and a decent colour!

I was in the same situation about 5 years ago, wanted an Ibiza Cupra TDI and settled for an Ibiza FR TDI, made it far better than a Cupra but cost silly amounts to do it!

That black 04 plate one shown a few posts before is lovely but expensive, I got my 06 plate vRS in May this year, its black with 27k miles and was £8k, got it for £7k - Skoda dealer too.

Andrew before you do anything, Get some quotes on a vRS, As much as you want one, The insurance costs may make it unviable, Sincerely hope this isn't the case! But forewarned is forearmed!

I had the very car you are after my friend! It even had the xenons too! Sometimes I wish I had never got rid of it - even though I now have an SE the xenons are the thing I miss most. Best of luck in your quest.

That's good to know :)

Yeah. I shudder when I think about the money I've ploughed into what is, at the end of the day, an Elegance! The folly of youth, that's my excuse

I've already got a few quotes...it's viable  And hopefully it'll have gone down a touch more once I turn 20. Thanks for the advice :)

Ah, should've sold it to me ;) Glad the xenons are good.

Thanks,

Andrew

Best thing I ever did... Just got back from a trip to Bournemouth this weekend...

It ate up the 280 mile round trip.... I was gutted I was home... A couple of cars ago I had a Golf GTI 8valve... I thought it was quite "Grunty" and missed its urgency when I changed it for a 2.0 16v Bora after 6 years of ownership... My VRS would rip that GTI a new one if I were to race it today... The VRS has so much grunt and pulls so well in all the gears.

The journeys to and from Bournemouth were truly a joy...

Best car I've owned.. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

FYI, Xenons were available as an option from launch :)

Steve

I recommend you add ESP to your list of must haves. In the 3 and a bit years I've had mine the ESP has saved my bacon on a couple of occasions.Well worth it.
