Breakdown Cover - Who do you use?

Featured Replies

Who would you recommend? I'm looking for all the options, minus european cover, for 2 people on 1 car (usually called vehicle cover, as opposed to personal cover).

AA and RAC are about £140 for all their options, minus european cover.

Direct Line seem to be about £90 for all their options, minus european cover. (I'm insured with them so they may be giving me a discount)

Who do you use?

Skoda Assist/RAC are doing discount at the moment £89 special price. They sent me a renewal the other day as mine is just out of warranty and breakdown cover too.

I bought my car second hand and was under the impression you couldn't renew it after the warranty? Will have a look.

I think you will find you can as its basically RAC through Skoda.

Got the same letter the other day. £145 for two years cover is a bargain for whats included.

Mines just coming up to the end of the warranty period.

I've been with the RAC for a few years. They give you a no callout discount. This year's premium (just got the reminder) is 118.60 for me, my wife and son in any vehicle even as a passenger.

Been in the AA since 1973. Covered for any vehicle as is SWMBO. I've recently called them out for my motorcycle or when I've been a passenger in non members cars. Can not fault their fast and couteous service. Not cheap. About £150 p.a.. I also have free RAC cover in my Skoda which saves me a tidy sum when going to Europe. If you're worried about cost , just go for the cheapest you find on Google.

I've been using Direct Line too as it was an option with my insurance to just add it on. I seem to remember the cover is actually provided by Green Flag under the DL name.

The new car is of course covered by the Skoda/RAC cover.

I'm with the aa as they are the only one to cover cars being used on track days and as well as the vrs I drive a scooby as a second / track car. I seemto remember it was about £80 for the middle level of cover. Was with direct line before who were good when we called them out but a little expensive without the no claims discount

If you do not plan to take the car abroad then go for RAC as they provide the Skoda Assist cover and will have detailed Skoda knowledge and kit.

If you do take the car to Europe then get Skoda Assist as this is covered too and is cheaper than full RAC cover and runs all year.

So in other words go with Skoda Assist regardless? :D

My 3 years is also up shortly and I shall definitley be giving them a call.

Cheers.

With the AA, have a "family policy" at the moment which covers everyone even as a passenger (younger brother is covered even though he does not drive). Have to say its been useful many times.
