Horn Location

Featured Replies

Hi There,

can anyone tell me where the horn is located in a Fabia II estate please. The standard one is useless and I need to fit something a bit louder.

Thanks

O.K. So where is the HORN then. Iv'e also looked at the other thread and that doesan't seem to mention where the horn on a FAB II is actually located... I need to replace the factory fitted one with one that actually sounds like a horn!

Behind the left front fog lamp cover.

On the pic you can see mine Bosch AirMaster (red) horn replaced with the OEM one...

Just a few notes:

1. The plastic trim panel that is alongside the fog lamp just pulls out - grab it hard on the two cross bars and yank and it will come out.

2. The horn is fixed in place with a 13mm bolt - you'll need a socket set with a short extension to get it out.

3. The connector is slightly tricky to get off - push the tab which you can see on the side nearest to the horn and it lifts a tab inside the plug which allows you to pull it off. It's quite clear once you've got the plug off, but not at all clear until then!

4. The connector on the existing horn is very different from the one of the replacement horn I have - as a result I'm a bit stuck until I can get a replacement connector.

Following on from my comment above - the two connectors are quite different, even though the horn I purchased was described as a "Skoda Octavia horn" and I have previously seen suggestions that it is a simple retrofit for the Fabia. Are the horn connectors normally the same on the two cars, or was this a detail that someone omitted to mention?

Obviously I'm now stuck with trying to track down a correct connector for this new horn I have which will probably not be that easy...

I was expecting someone to say.... "In the centre of the steering wheel"! I was unsure if they fitted a horn... I thought they fitted one from a kiddies push and ride toy, you know the ones with a squeezy bulb type horn..

Instead of frightening someone out of your path, they just roll out the way, laughing 'til their ribs hurt!

I was hoping not to have this on the Fabia, after 7 years of embarrassing toot-toots in the Yaris!

OK..

So once you've got the plastic bit out holding the fog light in, is it a fairly easy job to replace the horn assuming you've got the right electrical connectors to hook it up?

Oh, and do you have to get underneath the car to get the old one off?

It's very straightforward indeed. All you have to do is:

1. Remove plastic trim by pulling forward.

2. Undo bolt holding horn in place. I'm pretty sure it's a 13mm bolt. You will need an extension on the socket to do this.

3. Pull plug off existing horn, pushing holding clip down as you do it (this is a bit fiddly).

4. Replace new horn.

You don't need to get under the car; it's all done from the front. There is plenty of space around the horn to get good access to it. It is close to being as easy a job as you can have on a car.
