DMF Failure symptoms

Featured Replies

Quite true Sir! Albeit a little noiser at idle, but i think i could cope with this considering the amounts of rattles my interior seems to make.

I haven,t as yet heard any noises at all from my smf/clutch since fitted and at idle.Very quiet compared to the dmf that was replaced. Now can just hear engine idle and the engine keeps still now haha.

Ok matey, no worries.

As i mentioned as was a little unclear what would happen in a warrenty claim. I bought my car 2nd hand without any main dealer warrenty.

Mines non main dealer warranty as well :( I'm gonna have to deal with the RAC and pay for diagnostics. I have managed to drive round it most of the time by using minute throttle inputs but in every day driving that is just not partical really.I drove the Furby vRS last night and it reminded me of what a smooth drive train is like

I've not even got any warrenty, just a huge bill when it comes in.

Mine snatches a little when taking up the bite, but im not certain if thats the play in the engine mounts. Otherwise the DMF is fine one you've taken up drive.

I think one of our works vans has a DMF thats on the way out, when your setting off from junctions its very verky. When you turn the engine off the whole car shakes, but i've thought that could be the Anti Shudder Valve not doing its job.

Phew I have none of that, just a flat spot in first gear when setting off. cheers - Stuart.

Hi Stuart, flat spot in first gear most probably seems to be a damaged air flow sensor or some kind of leak in the Turbo pressuer system....although the latter should also be audible.... @DMF I think you also notice the car vibrate when accelerating from low revs ..... which I also try to avoid when I can.....

Mine also does this too with the SMF its a nice positive clutch pick up so i don,t think you need to worry.

Can anyone tell me if it is normal to feel a vibration through the clutch pedal on DMF vehicles? I have a 2008 2.0 diesel which has done 11K miles and if you press the clutch pedal there is a vibration for the first couple of inches of travel. The vibration is related to engine speed. I've not noticed this on any other car, and it certainly isn't there on my little Hyundai petrol model. I also get a clutch judder sensation every time I pull away in first gear for the first 3 or 4 miles each morning and was wondering if the issues are related. Of course if i take it to the dealer, they can not notice the juddering, even though I left it there overnight. I didn't mention the vibration felt in the pedal - but if it is not normal I will be taking it back..... again.
