Featured Replies

Ive searched on this and havent really got a specific answers, there seems to be alot of misinformation out there regarding this,Firstly i have just got a 2006 octavia vrs petrol, and its due a big service, it has 120000kms on it(75kish miles), now in the service book it says the timing belt to be changed at 180kms,does anyone know that you should change it sooner than 180000kms or whats the story with it?Thanks alotDarren

Should now be 60K miles or 4 years. Skoda have revised this guidance

Longlife:

•Mileage: more than 30 miles per day.

•Type of Journey: Motorway and main road driving. Mainly longer distance journeys.

Constant speeds.

•Conditions: Normal engine loading - eg, with little or no towing, with little or no hill climbs. Normal vehicle loading.

•Driving style: Moderate acceleration, moderate braking, engine revs mainly below 3000rpm.

Time and Distance:

•Mileage: less than 10,000 miles per year

•Type of Journey: Mainly city/town centre driving. Short journeys.•Conditions: Frequent cold starts. High engine loading - eg, frequent hill climbs, vehicle fully loaded, towing.

•Driving style: Uneconomical - eg, heavy acceleration, heavy braking, constant changes in speed, constant use of high revs, 'sporty' driving.

I have edited the post to break it up a little.

I am not in any way mechanically minded, but love my cars dearlyQuick question to anyone far more knowledgable than me. Awaiting delivery of a 2.0 TSI VRS DSG Estate. I do about 9000 miles a year ,mostly short city journeys in traffick, punctuated by the odd long distance journey incorpoating a damned good play with it.What service should I use, long life or annual? What oil should I insist on. Please, where possible just give me a name ie Castrol, and specification W405 or something.ThanksI know that's two questions really

Fixed and always 504 Long life spec 5/30w fully synthetic, so that means the Shell stuff with the VW writing on it! In fact the 2L only takes Long Life whether its fixed or variable.

Thanks for that
