Falken 452 vs Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

Featured Replies

lol !

??????? Are you taking the p**s or are you getting all warm and fuzzy.........I can't quite work it out !!

Vredestein are anything but a budget tyre these days. Their reputation on the open market would be much better knowledge if their distribution across the UK was better.

I can get premium brand tyres for £60 a corner and I have to say I'd place the 452 in the mid range tyre. I got a new pirelli for only £2 more than a budget tyre offering the garage suggested.

The Vreds were in the same price band' date=' but are now moving towards the premium brand tyres prices.

If you thing £60 a corner is budget, you should see some of the ditch finders that are offered as a budget tyre at £30 a corner [/quote']

Yeah I was buying NCT and stuff and it was awhile back and yes it DID shop around!!!The Vreds are getting a name for themselves and this is probably why they seem to be creeping up a little. £80 ish seems to be run of the mill. What scares the crap out of me about £30 rubber bands is they are allowed on the road at all. All those £300 alloy wheel deals on ebay with nasty wheels made out of swarf and milk bottle tops wrapped up in recycled knicker elastic! Seriously there should at least be a minimum straight line and lateral grip level test before these tyres are allowed into the country. Don't get me started on cheap wheels.......personaly grip of mine having seen a mates egg shaped and cracked ones. Shocking.Anyway, OK the 452's are not a bad tyre I'll admit but the original question was how they compare. The answer is very well but IMHOP the Vreds are worth every penny of the additonal money due to the afformentioned advantages. I'm off to soak my head! :-)

I agree workmate as just purchased a cheap runner.

FR = Goodyear NCT (V rated)

FL = Ditchfinder special (H rated)

RL = Goodyear NCY (V rated)

RR = Uber ditchfinder special, super crap (W rated)

Spare Goodyear NCT (H Rated)

My advice was to get the two ditchfinders gone and replaced and the NCT put on the same axle or if older than 4 years get 4 new tyres.

I have to say, I've run the 452 and I think in this instance I would be willing to try the Vreds to compare and if they are as good as people and reviews say, move over to them.

At the moment I'm on winter tyres, so it's all good for now.

Vredsteins for the Win in my opinion!

Im with Dan The V8 Man Here

I've never had a tyre handle/brake so well in the wet.

It would be interesting to see a comparison between the two, i think if i was looking to save a chunk of money i would try the Falkens. Everyone was recommending the Vreds and i thought i'd give it a go. Im not dissapointed either and there wearing quite well too!

theres a reason the vreds are going up in price. its because they can compete with the high performance tyres costing upto £50 a corner more expensive. It was never going to take long before this started happening.

i got them for £90 each incl fitting 225/40/R18 bargain

That is a bargain, i paid £100 each supplied and fitted locally.

£100 is still a bargain. I got two that size for my son's Golf (boy racer) and I happened to see the dealers invoice from Vred UK and he paid almost £93.00 (INCLUDING VAT) for each tyre.

You must have got old stock!!

Some folk have all the luck!!!

That price was from my mate getting me a bit of discount too, admitedly he said they didn't get many people asking for them.

I have a pair in the garage to go on the back of Octy to replace the Dunlops ;) I had the SporTrac3s on the Toledo and on Lizs vRS and they are amazing in the wet, very progressive. If you have a smaller sized alloy i.e. 15/16" then they would be a great comprimise as they around £15 a corner cheaper than what I paid for the Ultracs (but that is 16" to 17" comparison)
