Anyone got FACTS about the rear camber problem??

Featured Replies

Hi,There's a possibility that my L&K is affected with the above issue, but when I phoned 3 dealers for advice, none of them knew anything about what I was talking about?! Does anyone on here have any facts about what is going on, cos i've seen the exact same revised settings in several places and different websites, but there doesn't appear to be anything official from Skoda apart from they're aware of a rear tyre wear issue, and that's just advice, not a recall/remedial fix at all. Basically, it means they won't look at them, but they know something's going on.These new settings are supposed to have been released in the last 6 months or so, from what i've read, but can anyone shed any light on if that is the correct time of release for these settings, where they came from, and if it's possible to get the dealers to at least have a look without charging me?

Out of interest, what tyres have you got? According to the tyre fitter at Event Tyres, some tyres are just not suitable with the Octavia, hence all the problems I had with Goodyear Eagle F1's.

There was a technical bulletin but this was years ago. All Skoda did to reduce noise was reduce the rear camber from 1.45 degrees to 1.25 degrees.

Any competent tyre fitters should be able to do it for you. :)

I've got Bridgestone Potenza's but not sure which set. They're okay I suppose.Would a '58 plate car have the new settings then? I'd heard they released some revised settings only about 6 months ago, but can't remember where. Thought they'd said it was 1.40 to 1.20.

Mines a '58 reg. Built April 2008.It has the latest settings.

The new revised setting came in around MY07. Have a TSI, yours shouldnt be affected.

What pressures are you using and what tyre size? Sounds like you've been under inflating the rears

Quite possibly. I've been reading the last few days about one of the big tyre companies telling people to increase manufacturers tyre pressures by 2 psiSo given that i'm running 225/45/17's, what do you recommend the pressure to actually be gadget?

I'm gonna try swapping front's for rears tomorrow, but i'm looking at changing tyres soon anyway. Probably gonna go for Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas from what i've been reading about them.

And why on this forum when you try putting a line in between sentences so it scans better, it now bunches the whole lot into one paragraph??!!! What's that all about?!!

Because it's broken ATM. On ours, same size, we run 32 all round. Even wear and rears still strong at 31k. Fronts went about 30k EDIT - and we have the sports suspension, which is meant to make matters worse before the camber value fix.

I had awful grief with the rear tyres and inside wear which also caused the terrible whining noise. I got the new settings dialed in, changed tyres and the noise is gone !! 2006 2.0tdi pegasus/sport suspension, I run 34psi.

If i've got a '58 plate octy , should I have the revised settings or will I need to get them adjusted??

I think they where changed in 2007 but I could be wrong.

I had uneven rear tyre wear and the noise problem on my 06 plate combi, but I have had no issues on my current 08 plate combi. So it it looks like the fix came in before the 08 plates.

I have an my08 estate L&K.

Had the rear camber adjusted from 2.8 degrees negative to 1.2.

Car handling went from surefooted to feeling like it was top heavy.

At least I can get more than 8000 miles out of a set of rear tyres now.

Since they were adjusted I've done 12000 miles and the rears don't look touched. - Result.
