Headlight protectors, can you get them?

Featured Replies

As I've got them fitted to my Golf to protect the Xenons on that, I was wondering if there's a similar thing available for the Octy II? After all a stone through a headlight is going to be seriously expensive. Ta.

Put that protective film on Lamin-X

Oh no, tom!

I don't want that stuff, I want the hard plastic ones.

Have been told they're not available for the Octy II - a pity, as I had a pair for the Octy I with beam blockers added - slipped them on for cross-channel ventures.

Have now got the Halfords circles - and am intending to leave them on until next year's service, when I will ask to have th headlamps flat-beamed.

Unless, of course, someone comes up with a source/part number for plastic protectors....

They are available ,i have a set, never got round to fitting them mind.

Good link, shame the seller didn't provide any pictures!

They do them for pre-fl, but not fl yet it seems.

Can't help with the protectors, but this may help with your continental driving:

octy 2 2006-2009 headlamp protectors ZGB 1Z0 072 100 £32.92 + vat from dealers

Thats not the FL version though

Think the FL headlights are polycarbonate, so surely impact resistance is inherent?

I'd rather not take the chance if it were me. Better replacing one protector over one light unit....

Steve

wasnt aware it was a FL, he just said octavia 2

Oops forgot to say that!

Classic signature fodder that info, "ON ORDER: OCTY II FL - woo hoo!"

Or words to that effect ;)

If you have xenons, then you can set the flatbeam via maxidot. No dealer visit required ;) If you have halogens, then follow the linked guide above.

I've seen a few crashed Octavias II's when I was at skoda. Saw a few with heavy front enders. Some of them had the headlights half way up the bonnet. The brackets were broken but never the lens. We all decided that the headlight covers were a total waste of money

It's probably because the mechanism that secure the light are just two thin plastic plates on beveled adjusters ! You would nearly break the bloody things re-fitting the light !

Plus it's quite possible that they've not taken a direct hit during the incident. A direct rock strike might be a different story though :)

Have Xenons, but on a 2006 pre-FL L&F estate. Never seen an option for flat-beaming in the Maxidot - suspect this is something that came later?

But now I have a part number for 2006-2009 headlight covers I'll be off to the dealers in the morning. As I meant to say, I used them to avoid constantly fitting and removing beam-blockers on trips to the Continent - stick 'em on once to the protectors and simply fit as required - not for protection as such, which I doubt is required.
