Cost of 3rd Variable Service

Featured Replies

Alas I'm not that far off my third variable service (the car has 41,000 miles on).

I was told by one dealership that the third variable is a major service - so filters, plugs etc changed.

Was told it would be around £300.

Is that about right for a main dealer?

Firstly, if out of warranty you may wish to consider and independent workshop......

Secondly, its best to ring around. Remember that prices aren't actually fixed, there is always room for negotiation. Most main dealers near us are fairly quiet at the moment, so you may be able to strike a deal.

I got a good deal at Mitchells in Cheshire Oaks

£205 at 51k

My Brake fluid change was already done at second variable and they are going to fit my NGK iridium plugs instead of there own.

Plus they have an offer on at the moment where they pay the VAT

Isn't that a bit far to travel for a service Folkstone to the Wirral ? cheers - Stuart.

From the handbook its 4 years or 40000 miles , ours is 4 years with 34500 miles and went in for the major service ie cam belt dsg box filled and brake fluid etc, this came to £692 was quoted £900. However on this service last week they said the battery is satifactory and at 25% what ever that means. Anyway this week with the colder weather the battery just about made it to start so checked it with a voltmeter and was surprised to see it at 11.9 v. Was charged £117 for new Skoda battery fitted.Expensive couple of weeks.
