Leon Cupra R - thinking of buying

Featured Replies

Coming into my work as a trade in, and have first refusal emoticon-0100-smile.gif

Basically, anything specific to look out for or prone to failure, and how much should I be looking to pay? Tis the 225 model

And, who wants to either loan me the money? emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Also, what can i realistically expect to get for an 03/53, 77k, and as per sig. Either as private or trade in?

Comfy, quick cars! :)

Agree with Babs, 'Do it!'...

I heard quickquid offers competitive APR loans ;)

Deffo get it , loved mine to bits , would seriously have another , was considering it seriously a couple of weeks back

Theres a few guys over on seatcupra.net have mentioned the gearboxes whining in 3rd cog, and these guys are on mileages of 45-50k.

Have wanted one since about a month after buying my Fabia. But at 21, doubt I could insure it back then, or even afford it

Lovely looking cars, just need to wait and see what the car is like, and if we can do a deal :smirk:

Nah, just need to find the right insurance company, Mikey!

It's because most Fabias end up on their roofs ;)

I've driven 2 Leons and I found them 'heavy' if that makes sense?

Were they just crocks or are they just fairly heavy to drive? They were both definately heavier than my Octavia to turn in.

Nice looking though :)

I drive a mk1 (a later 225bhp one) all the time and absolutely love it.

Its very focused, if you want a manic car, that goes like stink, handles really well, its definitely a great buy.

If you want a fast comfortable cruiser with good economy, run for the hills.

It does have some traction issues, from a standing start it can be quite a challenge to get her rolling, but once moving its a missile. Mine has a chip and exhaust, sounds fantastic, and while playing with a sat nav based GPS timer thingy, i managed a sub 6 second 0-60.

The car now has 70k on it, has had no problems at all, has a couple of rattles (mostly due to bad roads, and harsh suspension), although i wouldn't be supprised if it needed a new clutch in the near future.

I've always wanted one, but when looking around for the family barge, the boot wasn't up to the task. When the kids no longer need a pushchair, travel cot and the 1000 nappies needed for a weekend away, I may look again. If you don't need a big boot - do it!

I thought the suspension was rock hard but loved it all the same when I had one for a week.

What's the warn status about ? Have I offended anyone ?

Like others have said get one! Cupra r is the car i wanted but did'nt have enough cash so went for the octy vrs, still really want one though!

Ive had one for over a year now, just recently got it mapped and its a beast properly quick car! getting it off the line since its been mapped can be tricky but once its shifting its brutally quick. Mines is sitting on 87k and so far ive had absolutly no problems at all but it does like to devour front tyres lol

Got someone coming to see the Fabia on Wednesday, Cupra gets delivered to my work on friday

Cant wait!

What sort of power does it put it with a remap, out of interest?

is it a Mk1 your on about? I had a drive in one a few years ago before i got the Fab....to be honest im glad i got the Fab!!...The Cupra was far too harsh to drive and the gear box was dreadful...and at the time i had a Octy RS and that felt much faster and better handling.

The Mk2 is a shocking looking car to me!!...Theres a Seat garage around the corner from me and every time i pass it i just think i bet they go like stink but its looks a brick!!

K:)

With remap... 260-270

Tis an 03 plate, paid £4750 which was probably bang on the money, maybe a bit much, but he left the FMIC and induction kit on, and included all the standard parts. Has FSH, timing belt and water pump and service just done, 2 rear tyres, both rear springs and tracking done not long ago for its MOT, bluetooth kit fitted, interior is mint. He was going to let it go for 4.4k but needed a belt etc, so took half the cost of that himself...

Got offered a yellow one near newcastle for £4250, but there was something not quite right about it. Couldnt decide what it was, so I walked...

We done not bad, I wanted red, the missus wanted yellow, so we got a grey one :giggle:
