New MAF - Cheapest?

Featured Replies

Looking at treating the old dear to a new MAF,so where is the best (cheapest) place to get a new one from and must be genuine.

Yeah ive been thinking the same thing, done 90k on the orignal so thinking a new one wont hurt.

I just got quoted £57 plus VAT at TPS in Cardiff

Been thinking the same as you two funnily enough.

If you get one let me know if it feels any better/different, not sure if they degrade or just stop working.

It is worth bearing in mind that all Škoda original replacement parts carry a warranty for a period of two-years/unlimited mileage from the date of purchase.

Thanks but id rather pay more for one that i knew was genuine, like fatty5000 says tps might be a good bet cheers.

However TPS cannot process warranty claims on electrical items over £50 + VAT retail, they have to through a Skoda dealer.

the ones on ebay have a 2 year warranty too. ill price one up in halfords for you tomorrow also

your correct we cant process warranty claims over £50 but all thats required is if the part goes faulty drop into your local dealer they will check it and replace FOC if thats the case, just make sure to save a copy of your invoice

You can clean the MAF with Electronic Contac Cleaner or a similar product designed for this and it leave it like new. Have you try that?

For a geniune Skoda MAF £57 is the best price you will probably get, even the none genuine ones sometimes go for more than that on ebay.

I got a genuine Bosch one from GSF for less than 60 quid a few months back.

if they are that price i'm going to buy hundreds with my staff discount!

So has anyone changed one yet, notice any difference ???

I think if you unplug the sensor and see if it runs better ! as the default settings in the ECU are better than the faulty ones the MAF is sending out, I bought mine from GSF and bought the cheaper one first which was crap and took it back and changed it for the Bocsh one which is still on the car. cheers - Stuart.

I'm after a new MAF myself but don't seem to be able to get one for the price stated.

I've been to TPS and they wan't £77+ vat and my old unit in exchange, and as far as i'm aware thats for a recon one not a brand new one??

The guy told me that if i wan't a brand new one it'll cost me over £200+ Ouch....

i've also popped into GSF but they didn't have a Bosch ones or an eta, they only had a pattern one but i'd rather have the genuine article though.

Any Ideas where to buy a brand new Bosch one without paying over £200??

Cheers!

the price quoted above would have been a trade price, most air flow meters are exchange items and are reconditioned but its usually only the outer casing thats recon, these also come with a 2 year guarantee, we dont normally question anybody that comes in and just book it at trade price

i went to a vw dealers and it cost me £82 and they need your old one back .....also remeber if you take your car to a vw dealer because you think that the maf has a prob that you got off them and if they rule it out that its not a prob with the maf you will get your a bum slapped as they will charge you for the time and for the vag check.....

only change it if it needs changing
