crashed my VRS tonight

Featured Replies

Glad it wasn't my Audi A8, but I crashed my VRS tonight drivin down some twisty lanes, obviously alittle quick and didnt expect such a hard turn and WAM! brakes seemed to lock up as i think it was ICEY and I hit a stone wall.

Pictures to follow tomorrow, but looks like a need a new bonnet, bumper, headlight and front drivers side wing.

Not sure about the insurance route yet, anyone know any good breakers if need be?

thanks!

I should of known better than hoot around a country lane, it was the last bend on the lane aswell - typical.

car wouldn't stop, it was either a steel gate head on, or swerve which the car was doing but then bam hit the stone wall.

Unlucky tis the season for it.......hence why mine is safely parked away under cover :D

Sorry to hear about this. Glad your OK that's the main thing.

I know how you feel after doing the same thing years ago :(

At the end of the day, at least you are OK :)

I know exactly how you feel. did a similar thing last year. Country lane and just slid into a grass bank. Luckily the damage wasn't too bad it was just a fog, alloy and a bumper repair. Skospares are good for parts I had a door from there a few months ago.

Had a quote today from a repairer that has done work on my old S2000, they use what other repairers use it seems a system called Audatex System that estimates the times and parts costs.

The quote came in @ £1400!

here's a few pictures of the damage.

Nice little system that - links in directly with the insurance companies systems so reduces time taken to get claims approved - the engineer can also take a video clip of the damage and attach it to the claim so the loss adjuster can see the damage/condition of the car without having to personally inspect it.

Doesnt look to bad but glad it wasnt any worse

Pity it just nicked the bonnet. Not bad at all though. Look on the bright side, all your stonechips will be painted over.

Look on the brite side mate, you didn't hurt yourself and cars fix a lot quicker than people do.

Most important of all; you didn't hit anyone else.

Most important bit, you appear to be OK

I would not use the insurance bit unless you really have to, or have "no claims" cover, or it will cost you far more over the next five years, in insurance than the £1400 quoted

Though the insurance companies have you well screwed, either way

"Report it" and claim, then pay £1400 excess over the next FIVE years

DIY, and "failure to report an accident" £1400 excess over the next FIVE years

Or you could pay over the top every year for "no claims protection" and pay £1400 and more excess for life

Take your pics down, skulk away and DIY,/FRIENDLY GARAGE

Think before you act
