Did any of you guys consider an Octavia Scout?

Featured Replies

I love the look of an Octcavia Scout. Perfect looking car I have to say and scarce. I'd have gotten one had it not been for two things: the postage stamp that masquerades as a sunroof and the fact that the rear seats can't come out. So Yeti it was for me.

I toyed with it but at the time they still only had the PD engine and I did not want that. Equally when we walked into the dealers my wife looked at the Scout and said "boring estate car". When she saw the Yeti she said "that looks fun". Single people will not understand the importance of that but getting your other half on board is VERY important, even if they will barely drive it.

In no way am I condemning the Scout as it is a fine looking car and if your other half is agreeable then it is worth a look at at the same time as a Yeti. As others have said though they are quite different in style, height, length etc. I recently went to the Lake District and was extremely grateful that I was in a Yeti as the dimensions on those roads were ideal. I would not have wanted a longer car in that part of the world.

Both are excellent cars.

I loved my two Octavia Estates covering more than 70,000 miles in them in three years.

I just like the look and feel of the Yeti more although boot space is undoubtedly smaller - the one minus point. If you were able to remove the rear seats from an Octavia it would be simply vast. As it is, I can see why Skoda didn't bother with this feature. On the Yeti, removing the seats makes it a usable car for the odd occasions when you need a van.

I never even thought about a Scout. The stance and look of the Yeti appealed to us and the Octavia wouldn't have fitted in the garage anyway.

The Scout isn't available with diesel DSG 4x4

I hear that the Octavia Scout diesel DSG will be available towards the end of this year.

Pity, I'd have ordered it if it'd been available back in March.

For me the higher driving position offers an advantage in town as much as the country. Being able to see over traffic and spot changing traffic lights and do not enter boxes is a big plus. Very handy when I visit London. I think that on motorways too it is a far more relaxing driving position than the lower down cars. Being above the height of lorry wheels is very reassuring, not to mention having my line of sight above the headlights of oncoming cars. The list is endless. When the day comes to eventually change Boris the Yeti I can't see me reverting to a regular height hatchback. I'm converted.

To me the Octy Scout like the Audi Allroad and Subaru Mk 1 Forrester and Legacy Outback all look like a suspension upgrade too far.... :wonder:

Mind you, I actually think that the wheels my snow monster has on standard fit low profile tyres look lost in the wheel arches
