Felicia 1.6 starting problem

Featured Replies

Hi all and a Merry Xmas .Could anybody give me a clue about a starting problem on my L&K felicia 1.6.It recently became difficult to start I had a look and put it down to bad earth or starter motor . I cleaned all the contacts and changed the starter motor and it worked for a couple of weeks.I came out of work on Thursday and it wouldnt start, but this time the motors turning over but theres just no response from the engine. We tried bumping it and it started no problem,I got home and turned it off and turned the key and it started I used it a couple of time on the evening and it started ,although I did have to give it a bit of a blip on the throttle each time.Yesterday we loaded it up to go to dinner and ..........nothing !!So unload it all and use the Mrs' Superb instead ,at least that meant I could have a beer :giggle: . The starter is turning the engine over great but it just wont fire up.Im going out to try and see if I can find anything obvious in a bit but just thought I would see if anybody has any ideas. Thanks in advance,......Tim

Will the car start on a bump again if it does you might want to put a voltmeter across the battery with the engine turning over .note the volts should read between 9 and 10 if its lower the starter maybe drawing to much

If the engine is turning over but won't fire up you need to check if there is a spark. [After making sure there's fuel in the tank, lol]

could also point to a dodgy ignition switch

Thanks for your input guys .I spent a couple of hours on it yesterday, making sure it wasnt something silly like damp or loose wiring ,but no good. When I took the plugs out after trying to start it they were wet ,so fuel is getting through. The problem seems to be no spark.I think I will have to get somebody who knows what they are doing to have a look
