£299 for next 2 services. Good deal?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I wonder if you could help me please.

My mother has a 2007 Octavia estate automatic 1.9 TDi and has been sent a letter by her dealer offering her the cost of the next 2 services for £299.

The service plan includes:

1*oil change at 10,000 miles or 12 months

1*Inspection service at 20,000 miles or 24 months

1*Dust and Pollen filter at 24 months

1*Brake fluid change at 24 months (if required)

1*Spark plug change (if required)

1*Fuel filter (if required)

1*Air filter (if required)

Car is in good nick, has been serviced by the dealer to this point and does very low mileage (maybe 2500-5000 miles a year).

Is this a good or bad deal? Is this the garage trying to get some money in before the end of their financial year? What is the trade off here?

Thanks for your help and I apologise if this has been looked at before - I did do a search but couldn't find anything.

Cheers.

Not the bargain of the century really, I used to pay about 130 each service for a car with the same engine, and it defiantly won’t need spark plugs.

Prices may have risen in last couple of years and its peace of mind if the price is guaranteed I suppose.

Thanks for your help all. I think I am going to tell her not to bother with the deal and pay as and when it is needed. I agree - the chances of it going bust nowadays is pretty good!

Cheers

I was offered this plan today, The exact one but with £100 in vouchers if i take it out before december. Ive just had my first service done so it may be useful for the next two as i believe the third one is quite expensive?

As for the dealer going bust I'm sure its a Skoda UK offer so I'm guessing (but dont hold me to this) that skoda will honour the work elsewhere. As with anything if in doubt ask and make sure its in writing.

found the leftlet about it, its through VW finance so its will be upheld should the dealer go under.

Took a picture sorry if its not that readable!

I have taken up the deal - it is from Skoda themselves, via the main dealers. Mine will cover the 2 year fixed interval and the third year one. I checked out costs at my (alternative) local specialist dealer, and the Skoda deal was a saving of about £90 to £100 (2 year service at the non-main dealer, who are reckoned to be reasonable - I've used them several times - was going to cost £260 or more on its own, plus about £120 next year.)

The first bit is being done on Monday.
