but one of a gttdi would?

GT1749VA from the PD130 and the GT1749VB from the PD150 will fit I believe.

Yup the GT1749VB from the PD150 will fit. Mines been on about 3 months now, car is running beautifully. Just need another remap now to get the most out of it!

and don't forget its not just about changing the turbo, you will also need a front mounted intercooler and uprated clutch and also a re map for the most basic of conversions that will see about 225bhp and cost roughly 2500.

the 150gttdi golf turbo will fit

Tbh I don't agree that you NEED a FMIC with a PD150 turbo, im still using the SMIC, purely because I dont have the money to throw at the car at the moment, theres no issues with how the car runs, and no more lag than the standard turbo gave. Also my standard clutch is still coping very well - Its all in how you drive the car!

you won't be running any where near 225 bhp 350ft lbs that the setup should run for fun then as if you were regardless of how you drive your clutch would be toast, and i dread to think of your intake temps running a standard intercooler,is it just a standard pd150 turbo or a hybrid one ?

Well I dont intend to be running anywhere near that figure in any case. I bought the turbo as the standard one went pop a few months ago, its just a standard one not hybrid.

When funds allow, then of course a FMIC is something to consider, but for what I use the car for at the moment it runs just fine.

aah all is clear then, that would be fine you will be running pretty much standard power then my bag.

to make the pd150 turbo hybrid whats involved?diffrent bearings etc?obviously i know it would have to be sent away lol

send it away to turbo dynamics with 750ish quid iirc and they send you back a stage 2 hybrid which in the spec i outlined above will net 225bhp for fun,and with a few more mods injectors, bigger fmic, headwork, exhaust, water meth injection and another re map will see 250-260 bhp

Just to be clear, the pd150 turbo isnt a straight fit lol, also running a standard map with the 150 turbo fitted isnt such a great idea either, as it ll be moving more air for the same boost value so the map wont be quite right (we found this with andypandypoos car)

Ive seen the GT22 becoming pretty popular

Anyone have any ideas of this turbo in comparison to a hybrid GT17

My car was already remapped, so its running PD150 turbo with the map on there still. Not the best solution, but runs well (although there is a hesitation now at 1500rpm that was not there before the new turbo?)

Other thing ive noticed is there is literally no black smoke coming out of the back - a sign of the mixture being too lean? Or just the bigger turbo moving more air?
