Front wheel noise and movement... help !

Featured Replies

Hi,

Have a Fabia VRS 53 reg...

The NSF wheel has been pulling on acceleration over the last week or so.

Today it started making some noise and when I got home tonight I notice that if I kick it it sort of wobbles whereas the other wheels do no move.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

if you hold the wheel ether side with 2 hands and move it side-side its either bearing/track rod end/wishbone ball joint.

could also be the console bush, if this has split completely you will get a lot of movement

Could be console bush like Ric says. Mine desperatly need changing. You can feel the front end wonder also have uneven tyre wear on the inside like itsgot too much degative camber.

Thanks for the reply's.

I will jack it up to see if I can spot anything tomorrow.

The wheel moves more backwards and forwards rather than side to side though.

and this is with it still on the deck !

Faboka vrs this seems spot on !, no obvious tyre wear though as yet.

Is a consol bush a DIY jobby or not ? whats the going rate if not.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Wheel moving fore and aft is consul bush failure. DIY possible, but not a nice job the first time you do it. Front bolt for the wishbone can seize, and break when you try to remove it. Last official price I got was £90 at a dealer to do each side.

You should to able to visually check the console/rear wishbone bush by looking under the car from behind the front wheel forward... standards are voided and I'd assume excessive wear would be noticeable by looking, especially if its split!

If its them, get them replaced with the cupra bushes instead to stop it happening again and improve handling! :)
