PSI, please I do live in the outback

Normal load front 2.0 bar rear 2.2 bar

Fully Loaded front 2.2 bar rear 2.8 bar

wrong pressures for a VRS,

should be 2.3 bar front, 2.2 bar rear

32-34 psi :)

Been running 35 f 34 r for 12 months, no uneven wear and seems to handle nicely :)

I'm now on 17's and usually run 33 or 34 or the fronts and 32 on the rears.

Did the same with the 16's mind you...

Enough air so it doesn't make them look flat when parked on a kerb :D

By the way i'm 90% sure that regardless of the rims you should run the same pressure... after all the car still weighs the same!

Although if i was running uber low profile tyres i'd be tempted to run a few psi higher to help protect the rims against the crap uk roads

Good idea... might pump them up another psi...

Skoda quotes the tyre pressures in kpA on the inside of the fuel filler flap.

Here's something from the Skoda UK site to help you convert to the more usual Uk measurements of PSI or BAR

http://www.skoda.co.uk/aboutskoda/ourcompany/faqs.aspx

How do I convert tyre pressure figures?

Tyre pressure figures are quoted in 3 ways: KpA, BAR and PSI. The most commonly used in the UK are BAR and PSI. To convert BAR to PSI multiply by 14.5 - e.g. 2.0BAR * 14.5 = 29PSI. To convert KpA to BAR divide by 100 - e.g. 200KpA / 100 = 2.0 BAR To convert KpA to PSI multiply by 0.145 - e.g. 200Kpa * 0.145 = 29PSI

The cars handbook refers you to the sticker inside the filler flap. From memory the recommended tyre pressure does depend on tyre size - it certailny did on my old mk3 Golf (but I'm not going out in the cold to find out for sure!)

The Haynes manual quotes 2.0 BAR/ 29 PSI (F) and 2.2 BAR/ 32 PSI ® for normal load, but this is quoted for all models and I'm pretty sure that the 1.9 TDi engined cars run with more than that for the front.

yep, the Haynes is incorrect

  • 1 month later...

I got a list that says around 2.4 or 2.5 depending on front or rear... These equate to around 35 to 36 psi, on a Greenline with 15 inch rims. that is with the car carrying a standard load. the conversion data would be so much handier if it was in the manual or if a sticker or laminated card was available but I can't find one! Think how handy they would be as many people change cars, add weight/load, etc so just remembering your own standard peessure is of only limited use. I think the exact conversion is 1 bar = 14.507744 psi, that said, I have seen slight differences, depending on source!

Google is pretty handy for these things, as it does a fair few conversions - you just need to type in "x bar to psi conversion" (substituting x for a number) into the search terms box, and it'll give you the result. Then you can make your own sticker for the pressures (front & rear, loaded & unloaded), and put it in the glove box, or somewhere safe. :)

The proper sticker is only pennies, if you can live with bar ...

Thanks guys

You learn something new every day. I was running 32 all round. Will change them when i'm next at the pumps.

I work with 34 f 33 r - less squirmy...
