Featured Replies

Just got the other half a Vrs 04 plate done just under 50k.. Has a whiteline rear ARB helped a lot with the back end. Just want to drop it a little with out upsetting the ride. We have a little one.. What do you think ???

Thanks Mike

I'll be interested to hear from someone that has tried it.

I briefly considered it but it is generally agreed that the vRS is a bit under damped as standard, factor in stiffer springs with more recoil and this will be made even more of a problem. Factor in again that your shocks are probably coming up to half way through their usable life and I'm not sure it is a great idea.

That said I'd love to proven wrong by someone that has done it.

H&R springs will lower the car around 15mm. They are extremely well made springs and suit the VRS well. I had them fitted to KONI FSD shocks and that combination was very good.

I would say that if the VRS has not done many miles then you will get a benefit from just swapping the springs for H&R. Certainly will be better than the standard set up.

I would not do this with standard shocks if they have had over 60,000 plus miles on them though, and as you have done on 50,000 is a good candidate to go for it..

I ran Koni FSD's and H&R with 3 kids no problem. You will find less bounce with the H&R's so will actually be a more comfortable ride I think.

Thanks for your help !

I may change the front shocks for OEM one's.. The feel a little soft guss that could be all the bump were I live not helping lol !

Who is a good agent for H+R ??

Thanks Mike

They may work quite well putting a shorter spring with a higher spring rate on standard shocks but!........

The high the spring rate, the stiffer it is and the shorter it is you may find the car could be bouncey and the shock could bottom on a high speed bump as the shock cant deal with the increase in spring rate.

You may be ok with the 15mm drop and the standard shocks but just be warned you might not like it when its done.

But like i siad you might find its ok, theres opnly one way to find out!!!

Trust me you will be ok. H&R are not massively stiff, I know loads of folks who have them fitted to their VRS's. I have had more spring combinations you can throw a stick at on the VRS and H&R comes top for comfort and better feel than standard. You will not bottom your shocks out with these. H&R are not designed for shorter shocks.

DPM Motorsport is a good place to look. These are a partner on the site under performance and tuning
