slippery roads in Dublin

Featured Replies

Dublin had its snow at the end of 2009, then the temperature dropped below zero making the roads extremely treachurous. I worked last night and kept being stuck on the iecy roads. I didn't know my left front tyre had a puncture untill some pass-bys pointed it out to me. I had to keep going because I had left the jack at home and couldn't change the tyre. after a few miles I couldn't going further as I felt the steeling wheel's viberating so much. I got out and the scene shocked me. The whole tyre rubber had blown out and was smoking and I was literally driving on a bare alloy wheel! Thank god a car stopped and helped me out with his jack. my question is: after driving on a bare alloy wheel for a few miles, should I have my car's alignment adjusted?

i don't know why this would shock you after driving with a flat. sure you will never leave your jack again!

my experience is when a tyre has a puncture, it is not actually " flat". the sides of the tyre can still hold it for another few miles. I thought I could still drive on it untill I got home, my home was only a few miles away after all.

It will be fine, just get a new tyre when you can :)

checked the alloy this morning. It looked fine no cracks on it. All diameter length were the same so it wasn't deformed. suppose I still have to use it, can't affort to buy a new set at the moment.
