Stuttering Fabia Help

Featured Replies

Could one of you knowledgable people help me out here,

I purchased my Fabia VRS in May last year an 06 plate with 43,000 miles full Skoda history, after 50,000 mile service i started modifying, first then i went for a re-map, picked my mapper of this site, on the way to have the map done my car started to stutter at about 75 mph just on half throttle in 6th gear, so when i arrived at tuners i told him this i was in two minds to have it done or not, tuner read codes and said there was nothing wrong with the car and carried out map, on driving the car home stutter apeared to have disappeared then i started to notice it there again ever so slightly, i kept thinking what i had done, the night before re-map i had filled up and vented the tank, anyway i suffered it for a couple of months and then took it to another tuner who basically said the map was causing the problem so had it mapped again problem gone or so i thought, map was very aggressive and smoked like crazy i spoke with the tuner and they said they all smoke.

Another month passed and i thought i would put some springs on car whilst in this garage the stuttering came back with a vengance, in the end i have taken the car to a well known tuner, so new in line pump and a really good map, plus a new fuel filter which hadnt been changed since the car was built week 49/year 05 so i have taken this up with Skoda still waiting on what they have to say about this as tuner thinks this caused my pump to fail, anyway stutter still there so changed the EGR gasket for the 9mm version no better, Tuner has now said that there was a lot of muc in the tank when he changed the in line pump, now he thinks the Vacuum pump on the engine may be causing this problem, i have blasted it out with 10,000k boost but that didnt work, i have changed the fuel filter twice now still no change, it is most noticed at higher gears when trying to accelerate but only on part throttle, as you can imagine i have spent a lot of money and wondered if anybody had any ideas before i blow more money on a Vacuum pump

Thanks

MAF would be a good thing to check, as they often start to fail without throwing out a fault code. It doesn't sound like the stutter problem, as it usually occurs in lower gears under gentle acceleration.

Also worth having a compression test done, and a leak down test, to check for burnt or sticking valve.

If your engine code starts with ASZ it is unlikely to be EGR related, as the BLT engine was the one with the stutter problem.

I wonder if the tuners did a full code scan with VCDS, the smaller code readers will not show all fault codes.
