Octavia 4x4 In Snow

Featured Replies

Guys, this is an interesting thread - I've got my eye on an 1.8T Elegance 4x4, 2002 - 150bhp - what would I need to take this up to 180bhp the same an a VRS ?

Thanks

You'd probably get more help if you started a new thread on this... this thread will have a limited audience (people interested in Octavia 4x4s and snow!) compared to the parent forum.

I suggest a remap which sould see you getting around the 180 with minimal or no mods. Best to speak to one of the remap people to get exact figures. I recommend contacting shark performance who are a sponsor on this site as they do a remote remap which is really useful if your not close to a remap centre.

Got a Revo map on mine which makes it around 200-210bhp depending who you believe (never bothered with r.road). This transforms the car completely, but words of warning - mine needed a new clutch (not cheap) and uprating the brakes to 312mm as per vrs is a good idea. Otherwise - enjoy

Musky have you got a vrs or 4x4? The 4x4 is 150bhp standard compared to the vrs at 180bhp standard.

I didnt know the 4x4 didnt have 312mm discs as standard

Its a 4x4 and was 150 (hence why the remap is such a good idea :giggle: )and no they don't have 312mm as standard.

Took mine to Jabbasport for a remap, to around 200bhp. Totally transforms the car, had it done over 2 years ago not needed any major parts since, but have uprated the front brakes to zerosixty discs & predator pads recently as the original ones had worn to near the limit.

Another vote for Jabba, should see a whisker over 200 if your lucky but ignore the figures, thats for pub talk, they just seem to make the car so driveable but be warned it might be the start of the slippery slope, I ended up with 356 bhp & just over 20K lighter, Great car though. I really miss it in the slippery stuff. I now have a 350 Zed twin Turbo & that is just sitting in the garage.

I also had an Impreza STi 3 before the Octy & found the Octy much more predictable in the handling dept, the Scoob was all grip or nothing, nothing usually occuring 1/2 way through a bend which whilst spectacular never gave you confidence to push hard. I would agree it was also easier to pull away in the Octy on very icy roads

Have driven my Mk1 4x4 through 2 winters - last year just had summer tyres on it and was impressed. This year have got some Snowtrac3's on it and it is absolutely phenomenal. Snow ? What snow ? On the white stuff, 2nd gear, 3000rpm - nail the thottle and with no wheelspin it just takes off. Braking - your nose on the screen before the ABS cuts in.

I may never have anything else ever again.
