Octavia 2 roof bars

Featured Replies

I'm looking for some roof bars for my vRS hatchback for the sole purpose of carrying my mountain bikes (I already have the bike carriers)

Trawling the net shows roof bars form several manufacturers and Skoda but I'm unsure which one's are the best.

I have had roof bars for my previous cars but they all secured into a roof gutter. As the Octavia has no roof gutter I assume they must mount by clamping onto the roof in the door openings. I have no expirience of this type so I'm very interested to see what people are using and what can be recommended.

Prices range form £80 to £200 ideally I'd like to spend as little as possible but will pay for quality if its justified.

Any advice / input apreciated.

Cheers...............

Try roofbox.co.uk

They sorted my old man out when he wanted roof bars & roof box for his '05 VW Passat Estate, very quick & good service.

Hi

Open the car doors and look at the underside of each door opening. I.e. nearest the roof. You should find pre-prepared bolt holes for fitting roofbar feet.

The feet of the roofbars bolt in there and are covered when the car door is closed.

i believe roof racks damage the roof, i bought a thule 3 bike carrier which fits onto my towbar, fantastic bit of kit, no damage to car, buy from halfords £130 ish comes with light board, you wont regret it....

I've got a set of skoda roof bars which I got the dealer to throw in when I bought the car. They come with a torque control device so you know that they're on right. I have a roof box (not a bike carrier). There's an increase in wind noise, especially when the box is empty. Fuel consumption is hit at high speed, keep it legal and it's not bad, 80+mph = very noticable in the wallet area. Both these things apply to other bars/boxes and cars. I would recommend going with the skoda kit, they work really well and they've been designed for the car from the start not a modular system made to fit.

Hope this helps

ill second the roofbox company i got my 3 bike carriers from there, id recommend the thule roof bars i had them on my vectra and now they are going on the skoda , i have to change the feet pack, but you can take them to another car so they could be a good purchase, i believe auto express give them a best buy for roof bars as well.

As others have said, Roofbox are very good. I managed to find a second hand set of Mont Blanc roof bars for my hatch on ebay for £30, which was ideal for me as I only use them once in a blue moon.
