Et 35 on my octy 2?

Featured Replies

Hia there lads, can get some wheels at a nice price. These are the same design as my last ones rs8. All four will be et35. Will these look okay? Will the tyres also fit off my previous wheels. All exactly same measurments but different offset. 225/40/18 tyres

Wheel size 18x8j

Most of you must think im a idiot but if it doesnt involve laying bricks to a line i dont have a clue.

Tyres will be right , think you may struggle with the offset , mine are 45 and fill the arches , can you try the wheel on first ?

So the smaller the offset closer they are to the arch?

The smaller the offset the further they sit from the hub, so the further out in the arch they sit. OEM Octy wheels are around a 54, so 35 would be more than I'd want to run personally. I would go down as low as 45 with the Octy2.

On the hub it says et47 mate.

On the hub it says et47 mate.

Is that the std wheels , my vrs wheels are 52 i think , i looked for 45 mm when i bought my wheels as i think 35 would be too much

I run 8 x 18 ET 48 which look spot on and present no clearance problems, even with a 20mm drop. ET 35 with 8 inch rim would stick out too much IMO. It is the offset normally found on Audi's.

Hmm when i say i had a chance of buying them, i lied a tad. i did buy them this morning. But because i Bought these off a lad who said he took them off a mk5 golf and my other wheel were off a mk5 golf i presumed they would fit. SO before i have to get rid of these :( . Will these be a massive problem if i fit them? Is there anything i can do? I have two good et46 and four et35.

My RS6 style alloys are 8J ET42 and that is really pushing it IMO. In hindsight I wish I'd opted for ET45. My old OEM alloys are ET54 (or 57, can't remember) and they sat too far inboard.

Moving the alloy wheel outwards (by reducing the ET or adding spacers) increases the chance of rubbing/fouling the arches and adds a little more stress to the steering, suspension and wheel bearings.

My rear ET42s have rubbed the inside of the arch once in 4 months with a loaded boot and that was due to an over enthusiastic approach to a speed bump :giggle:

I think you'll have trouble with 8J ET35s mate to be honest.

Just rty them and stick on full lock and see what they do , if the cars not low you may get away with them , you may find it tracks more on the road surface as you will have a wider track

18" Zenniths are ET51. ET35 8J with 225s on standard suspension will be just about ok. It will stand very slightly proud at the front and be perfect at the rear.

Well i have two et 46's in good condition. If i put two et 35s on the rear will thi be okay'??

Another doeball question. Tried a et35 on the rear and it looked fine but too far out on the front.

So will it be okay if i put thetwo et46 on the front and two et35 on the back? I cant just try them on properly as the two et35 have no tyres on at the moment

Could someone pleas let me know and il swear il leave you alone:)

As others have said they are not going to fit without catching.

I've just bought some ET38 winter wheels 16 x 7 these really fill the arches, I was worried at first about the tyres clearing the arches but there OK. Had to go for this size to clear the 320mm brake setup and it only does by 4mm on the outside and 2mm at the most on the front of the caliper. Looks rather odd with the lowered on 16's with 55 profile tyres

I normally have 18 x 8.5 ET43. I think you may struggle with ET35

ET45's are spot on

ET45's are spot on

for 8J x 18" ET45 (or ET44 at a squeeze) are spot on. Any wider is too far and you have the rear wheels fouling on the wheel arches. I think it was Tom_vRS who tried 20mm spacers with his OE Zeniths, thus creating ET34 (albeit on 7.5J rims not 8J) and they fouled.

As is often said, a picture paints a thousand words. Here's a pic of my B14s with are 8J x 18" and ET45. Look at the relationship between the tyre/rim and the wheelarch; then image this 'edge' being 10mm further outboard. See what I mean?
