16 or 17 inches

Featured Replies

Ok, the Yeti we are about to order will have 17" wheels.

Now I'm no techie.....so the question is - now don't laugh....

Can I fit 16" wheels to it or do they HAVE to be 17"? Thinking of buying some steel wheels with winter tyres....most probable Vredestein wintracs or the like. Will fitting smaller wheels bugger up the gearing / diff / I dont know what...??

As long as the total rolling radius is the same, then no problem.

what Babs said.

As long as you use a larger profile tyre on the smaller wheels to keep the rolling radius the same you should be fine

16" are available for the Yeti, The Plumber has written accounts on various threads. Also on the Yeti Technical Pages is a detailde description of all tyres and wheels for the Yeti from Skoda. Yes you can use 16" wheels and appropriate tyres.

16" will work, as long as you use higher profile tyres to keep the rolling radius within about 2% of the 17s, and you have sufficient clearance to get the chosen 16s over the brakes (no idea what size discs a Yeti uses).
