What spec oil for pd130?

Featured Replies

I am sure it's on this site somewhere but I can't find it, does anyone know the spec for oil for a PD 130 on variable servicing. Thanks in advance.

Maybe in your handbook?

Castrol SLX Longlife 2 for variable, but...

Wasnt aware the 130 PD ran variable servicing, do you have your service book to hand?

Ross, the octy with pd130 engine will run on variable, at least that's what my dad has set in his L&K estate

Ok then just curious thats all.

Should read QG1 on the left hand bottom corner of the data sticker on the inside of the service book.

506.01 - variable servicing

505.01 - 10k miles or 1 year servicing.

Valvoline produce both types of oil, far cheaper than dealer.

The answer is in the article section in the thread below:

Although logic would seem to indicate that spec VW 506 01 oil should be suitable for the PD130 in the Fabia vRS given that it is specified for Octavia PD130 on variable servicing, it is apparently not suitable and a spec VW 505 01 oil must be used. There is a reasonable selection in the thread above.

My Superb with pd130 under the bonnet is QG1, and I am running it variable servicing. To date, its at 12k, after 19 months and still no request for service.

Denis,

506.01 is suitable for the PD in the Fabia vRS, it exceeds 505.01.

The problem is no Fabia vRS or other is equipped with the sensors that are required to run variable servcing thats all.

To quote that spec:

Titan Supersyn Longlife Plus SAE 0W-30 is NOT RECOMMENDED for use in VW/Audi engines without WIV (Extended ODI with car service computer).

Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL PD SAE 5W-40 fully synthetic oil is the factory fill oil for the Fabia vRS.

Sorry about the delay getting back but I was forced to drive 30 miles there and back to Asda to do the shopping....any excuse to drive it :)

First service was at 29,662 at about one year old.... then I bought it and although I'm not doing that sort of mileage it will need topping up soon and just wanted to make sure of oil spec (i.e. has it changed etc) in the book it says only vw506 01 for variable service on the 130pd and with it now "altered a little" I don't want to make any mistakes!

If on standard service or fixed service intervals - which includes the Fabia vRS - use one of the VW 505 01 oils listed here:

OUCH  found the correct oil in Halfords worked out

OK so the purchase price of the long-life is more than others, but it in no-way is equal to the cost of the extra service most on fixed servicing will pay.

As I said earlier, mine is 19 months old and still untouched.

Totally agree, the first service mine had was 29,662 at about a year old, so

I've asked the Castrol technical helpline on this subject and they said that LonglifeII was not suitable for a PD engine on fixed service intervals. The viscosity of longlife is lighter and causes "accelerated piston skirt scuffing" . I thought that longlifeII would be better for my Fabia vrs than standard PD oil, but apparently not.
