Well, my ex-demonstrator from Palmers at Watford has turned up, and have had it out in the slush up here, and I have to say, I think it's a riot. Quick, responsive, it's ideal in these conditions.

For those who thirst after such things, it's a Brilliant Silver Elegance 140TDI, with Sat Nav, and the Panoramic roof. The only drawback that I can see is that the more bells & whistles it has, the bigger the manual that comes with it ! So I shall spend the next day or two trying to figure out all the controls, then I'll fit my two way mountain rescue radio, and hopefully all will work perfectly.

I am working on the principle of getting some Nokian winter tyres for it, regardless of whether winter lasts any longer or not. I have a set of Sirius 16 x 6J s which I used on my Octavia Scout for alternative tyres. Now have to check whether they will fit OK, and also what size tyres can be fitted on them; rather fancy some 60 series, so there's a bit more sidewall between me and the black stuff.

Ooo, I know that one well. That was the first one I took out that had the panoramic roof and I was hooked instantly.

Enjoy the new Monster, Smick! Remember the roof blind shuts on its own if the car interior gets cold when the SM is left on its lonesome. Perhaps when global warming really takes hold, we'll see if it shuts itself if the interior gets too hot!

The park assit it a great bit of kit too! Great when you in a hurry on a main road. The looks you get are priceless
