Well, after selling the fast but booooooring MPS... i decided to go a bit old-skool (and save some money too)

So i present to you the new chariot:

Its a 1994 Jap import Eunos 1.8 roadster (mx5 to the brits) 150000km on the clock

being that its a jap import and a S-Special model it has some "useful" extras...

Electric windows

Electric mirrors

Power steering

Air conditioning

Bilstein suspension

Rear spoiler

Thicker ARBs

front strut brace and extra under-body bracing

Torsen LSD :p

Now its not perfect (it is 15 years old afterall) but it was cheap and drives very well. the majority of issues with it is pretty superficial so im looking forward to breaking out the hammer and messing about with it... most importantly is it doesnt leak!

Hopefully (if its still in one piece) ill be bringing it to the awesome RR day... wont be running it though until its had a full service and shakedown.

well day 1 of tinkering with it...

Found the coolant leak, theres a crack in the plastic endcap of the radiator which weeps water when red hot..

Headlights have been adjusted

Radio fixed

throttle adjusted

fixed electric wingmirrors

ToDo:

Fit new rad/coolant flush

Full service oil, filters, plugs, leads, transmission and diff oil change

brake fluid upgrade

strip down electric windows

cam cover gasket/sensor o-ring

remove stupid chrome "style" bar previous owner has fitted and find a replacement chassis brace bar that was removed (idiots!)

check air-con

get proper mounting cage for sony radio and proper cubby hole cover (original radio was a double DIN unit)

all in all it goes well, stops well, goes sideways very well

The 1.8 comes alive when the diesel is bouncing off the limiter. However, I have found due to the high gearing, it is quite comfortable in 5th gear @ around 2,000rpm in 40mph type roads. It holds speed OK and hills don't pose too much of a hindrance. Having trackday'd the MX I am using, it's definitely all about the 5000rpm to 7000rpm.
