The official mongrel rebuild thread

Featured Replies

Well, I am almost at a point now where I have bits needed to start the engine rebuild on my car. Just waiting on the head, some injectors and the exhaust manifold.

Didn't get much done on saturday as my mate doing most of the work was away, but I had time to unwrap my package from Mocal

Sexy 235mm oil cooler (for the oil this time, not the diesel)

Thermostatic sandwich plate which opens up at 80 degrees to pipe more oil through the cooler.

I will update this thread as more work takes place.

Looking forward to seeing more posts matey :) Admired your car since I joined on here, be good to see it back on the road again

Good luck with the rebuild, it will be a right beast when done!

Watched

Surely this should be in a blog?

whats the full plans for it then?

Jason - blog this mate :)

Eh? Blog it?

Going to have go and do some learning by the sounds of it.

Plan is relatively simply. Make my car into a 300bhp+ daily driver. :)

Good luck sir B)

I think you may have to Blog it as I have read from Colin that the "Members Cars" and "Project Journals" sections are going to be scrapped in March IMPORTANT Read Here

The alternative is to just have this thread as the Mongrel Rebuild Thread. I would love to read your build thread (If you had one) from 1.9 TDI to Mongral, to now.

Yeah, all Project Logs/Build Threads etc are to be put in a blog.

As one of our Lehensherr, I would have thought you'd have known that ;)

Sod it. I'm old fashioned so will just keep this thread.

One day I will need to write a damn essay on my rebuild - maybe in MS Word and have PDFs of it I can email out to people..... :giggle:

Ah, so one rule for you, another for the rest of us, I see!

Like any good dictatorship should be !!!!

Good luck with it Jason sounds like a real beast when its finished!

You really need to get shots up of what the manifold could have been.. lol

Blimey Jase - did you win the lottery?

Hopefully it will be a beast when its done... :)

Crikey Jason! Thats some manifold, is it a 1 off? or out of another VAG car.

So who supplied the manifold?

Once I get this "blogging" thing in my head (I still don't know how..... :| ) I will move this into there, but until that point please respect the fact I have no idea how to do it, and therefore calling me "non-decent moderator" whilst I don't know how to "blog" (I still don't really get it.....) is not on!

Haven't won the lottery but earning better money now, and i want the best the engine can get! Manifold is coming from a specialist in the Netherlands and is a "one-off" but based on a prior known pattern and a tested (and proven :D) design. :)
