Brakes

Featured Replies

Not sure if it is my imagination, but I am sensing that I am having to put significant pressure on the brake pedal to bring car to a stop. No warning lights. Could it be something to do with all the salt on the roads? Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Brakes seem "normal" on my 2WD.

Hi Yonderend,

wouldn't have thought salt would be the problem, have you checked your brake fluid level? If that's OK might be best just to pop into your dealer as the symptoms could be a servo issue.

Had a similar thing years ago on a Favorit; new servo required due to a leak.

Hopefully though your imagination.

I also seem to have poor brakes on my Octavia for some reason.

I think it's due to lack of real use with all the snow and ice.

When the roads dry out a bit more I will give it high speed runs/braking,

to get rid of the glaze...... waits for a clear run......... :)

Thanks to all. Tried an emergency stop today....no problems (apart from just about going through the windscreen!). Must have been my imagination. Apologies for troubling forum members.

Very valid reasoning, me thinks. emoticon-0144-nod.gif
