Fao Open Mouth Fabia VRS Owners

Featured Replies

Right im looking at going down the route of a open mouth and eventually a intercooler i just popped into the garage to get a quote and he said without taking the front of he couldnt tell me how much it would be, so my question to you guys is

what is behind the numberplate mount?? is it as simple as i can rempove that and the lower grille to show my slam panel?? and just fit mesh there?? or does it involve cutting?? atm im thinking of just painting the slam panel black until i get a frount mount

cheers in advance guys

There is some cutting - I found a razor sharp stanley knife the best thing to slowly chop through the plastic the numberplate surround bolts to. Once that is out the way, it's pretty much just a case of glueing mesh in there. :)

so does £50 soun d reasonable to repaint my grille touch up paint a supply and fit mesh making a open mouth?

I think so, yes. But make sure the person doing it knows about the bit which needs removing, and the care needed to cut it away without veering on to the actual lip of the mouth. Looking at the bumper from the inside once off the car makes it easier to know what needs cutting and where / how, to avoid damage to the actual lip.

if anyone could add pictures of front bumpers removed that would be great

Yeah - Kind of wish I had taken photos when I did mine to be honest. :|

Just realised my front bumper is off at the moment :D So will aim to get pics on saturday if I pop down to see the car for some more work. :)

To be fair if you can get someone thats done it before or is super carefull it wont need touching up afterwards, you will need some super good bonding agent though, we used run of the mill sealant originally but this eventually lets go of the mesh emoticon-0148-yes.gif

My use of polyurethane adhesive (nasty black crap that never comes off your hands :D) has held my mesh in well so far. As indicated though, it's not nice when it gets on your skin. Easier to let the skin die and shed it, than try to wash it off.....

Gloves? :D

Gloves? emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Sod that! Wearing those plaggy gloves takes away the "feel" whilst working on my car :D Plus they soon tear on something and you're back to square one. :o

So, no crash bar on the Fabia then?

So, no crash bar on the Fabia then?

There most certainly is matey, But I don't think it sits low enough to block the lower bumper :p

Part of the crash bar is exposed doing the open mouth bumper mod. Mine had a little bit chopped out of the bottom bit to help vent the FMIC a little more.
