De-locking Fabia

Featured Replies

Has anyone de-locked there Fabia yet? Are we vulnerable to the "windows down" break in method that most of the VAG suffers from?

I ask after just seeing Neg's Cupra R on Seat Enthusiasts site. The drivers door lock was only slightly damaged (no panel damage around it) and all the windows down and doors unlocked. Needless to say, he lost all his hifi, wheels and sat nav.

The parts to do the job are listed on the site and don't cost much, even cheeper for Fabia owners as we won't have to colour code the lock blank. It looks like you don't even have to remove the door cards to change the parts.

Does anyone know whats involved?

Have found the windows down once.......

I'd heard that this didn't wok with the Fabia and that a security group had tried it on all VW group cars and found the latest (at that time the Fabia and A2) didn't work with them!

i had my RS turbo delocked, i think it looks nice, might have to see about it.

If its like the octavia then you just need to loosen the two screws on the side of the door (whilst it's open), then just wiggle the lock barrel out. Looks good IMHO :)

It's another one of those easy jobs that took me about a year to actually get round to doing :grumpy:

so what happens when something goes wrong with the remotes then ?

I have got 2 remotes, so you would hope that both don't fail on the same day :D . As for the cars system failing and locking me out, I don't know. Has anyone fallen foul of there own security improvements?

Open the doors through the boot K  ?

Could this happen if the car's battery ran flat?

really Xavier :bigshock: ?

fabia has no boot key lock

when you say de-locking are you thinking of putting the blanking plate on like the one on passenger door?

Yes.

Why worry about wheather they can get in by operating comfort closing, all they need is a brick.

And before anyone says the alarm will go off if you use a brick, it will also go off if the lock is screw drivered. If the car has been locked by the remote you have 10 seconds to get the key in the ignition or the alarm goes off if the door is opened/unlocked by any other means than the remote anyhow.

But who pays attention to alarms anyhow?

The neighbours do if it goes off at 3am :o:rofl:
