Dog bone mount bush - SuperPro or PowerFlex

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I realize that the dog bone mount engine bush topic was covered. I just need a subjective advise.

I have tried both the PowerFlex one and then I changed to SuperPro as I hear that it less 'noisy'. I kind of agree with that but what I have experienced is the increase in shakes of the steering wheel whereas the PowerFlex was better at that, but a bit more nosy. On top of that with a SuperPro if a car is in the ide mode with the engine on that I switch on the air conditioning the shakes starts to come from underneath the car. I noticed that if rims are increaced at the level of about 900 the shaking is gone.

Any suggestions or comments from experience?

Many thanks for any of them.

Cheers,

Yaro

I have Superpro on mine and can't give a comparison to the PowerFlex although I was concerned about excissive vibrations, but didn't experience any of this once it was fitted.

It might be worth checking the torque settings as this may be causing the excessive virations if over done.

PowerFlex mate

its cheaper lol I do believe

I dont mind it,

So you do not experience any vibrations with a Super Pro fitted? I shall ask about the torque settings the gentleman who did a remap for me. Is there any way to re-program the level of rims at ide mode?

Yaro

Superpro on mine, vibrations for about 500 miles, now done about 2000 miles since fitting them and feels standard again. Easy, simple and effective change.

Yaro - mine was probably same as andy68 some vibrations for around 200 - 500 miles then didn't even notice the vibs anymore - maybe got used to it, but honestly I think they didn't exist anymore and back to standard as described.

I think you can increase the idle although don't know how.

I found this on seatcupra.net mentions adjusting idle is possible, but also cover torque settings

Vibrations on mine did not settle down. I have done a well over 1000 miles on it....

I think people say that they settle down but they are never like std, yes they take time to bed in then they calm down a tad but you still hear the engine as it is a stiffer item.

If yours is really bad mate you might want to remove it and slightly loosen it off as some times people over tighten them? just a thought.

or try the diesel one?

As amh suggested already it might be the case of over tighting it. I get it checked. Thanks to all for the support.

Big cheers,

Yaro

Just a word of warning.

Last November a fire destroyed the buildings and machinery of Powerflex. The Good news is they are now back in business, but there may be a wait for orders if you buy them direct. I posted a thread about it here Briskoda - Powerflex's Building burnt down

Having said that I would personally buy Powerflex bushes over SuperPlo ones.

depends, most Powerflex ones are cheaper so Yea I would too apart from the ARB bush and the Wishbone bushes as powerflex ones were crap, but dont know it they been sorted yet so I still wouldnt touch them.

how about the ECS one from awesome gti?

un known mate, sure someone will be able to say tho.

Guys,

Did the correct torque seetings on the recommended mount spots and for the support bolt...and.... I can feel a difference. It is much better comparing to what it was before.

I still think of increasing rims (if possible) but at the moment even with the air conditioning on my car does not sound like a tractor :-)

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Yaro

lol glad that helped mate, if you go from 17" to 18"+ you will notice a big diff in road noise, I find 18" ok but dread to think what Lloyds one is like with his monster wheels on lol(20" iirc)
