Can a bluefin be used on more than one car?

Featured Replies

As per the title really. I have a friend who has a bluefin he bought for his Mini about two years ago. He now has Fabia vRS and his bluefin is collecting dust in his atttic. Does anyone know if it is worth anything second hand? Can you use them on more than one car or do you have to have it reconfigured? And if so can it be reconfigured to work on a different type of car? Thanks in advance

Possibly, if the Mini and VAG Bluefins are compatible then it would at least need to be reset by Superchips.

Unless it is reset it will be locked to the ECU of the Mini. :)

Once you upload the Superchips map, it can only be used with you car. The standard map is stored on the Bluefin handset once upload is complete. So if you want to return the car to standard then you use that handset.

Superchips can reset it, but it will cost around £200.

As for compatability between Mini & Skoda, best check out the Superchips site.

Thanks, tbh he just wants to sell it, is it worth something to someone do you think?

Well, it'll cost around £200 to make it usable for someone else. I think a new one is £250 (that's what I paid for my other halfs Mini Bluefin about a year ago).

I think heard that they charge £125 to reset, but "your friend" will need to have the original reciept from the handset although I don't think it will be compatible.
