Is it supposed to get wet

Featured Replies

Hi all, I took the front door trim off earlier today, and found that it's rather wet behind the membrane and in the well of the door, there is slight pool of water. Is there a drain for this? Is it even supposed to be here? I guess that water running down the outside of the window is likely to get passed the rubber window seal. especially if you were to lower in the window in the wet. And I had also previously just washed the car which included using a pressure washer.

Just thought I'd check it out as initally seeing water anywhere other than outside is disturbing. But I can see how this possibly is a by product of water running down the window and therefore unavoidable.

There is a drain, have a fish around for it and unblock it :)

mine was moist, I was going to remove the membrane to see if it improved the speaker sound but when I found it wet I decided against it.

AH! Perhaps as you suggest, it's blocked causing slow drainage. Is it towards the rear or front end of the door do you know?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I have done this, removing the small section of membrane. It's probably been off for 4-5 months now and the speaker has never been wet, I took it off and closely analyzed it earlier and there are no water marks and the card cone is still stiff. The moisture appears to miss the speaker, probabaly as it's so shallow and just drip down into the base of the door. Perhaps if your car was parked on a sideways slope, then you may get a drop or two trickling in.

The alternative to this is to put a few holes or maybe some neat little slits in the circular piece of membrane just to help the air flow?

There are 3 drain slots on the Octy's front doors, one either end and one about half-way along. You'll need to physically look under the door to see to get the unblocking tool in them.
