Driver's Electric Window

Featured Replies

Having been a memebr for a while but one of the lucky ones not to have had too many problems with my Mk1 Octavia VRS I've not had much need to make any posts in the pasts but been amazed at the wealth of knowledge other members have. Anyway now my problems if thats ok. Yesterday I attempted to open and close the drivers side window and the window started moving but then began to struggle with a sound of metallic/glass breaking somewhere behind the door card. The windows stopped two inches from the bottom and I eventually managed to get it back to the top. Seeing as its so cold today I've not intention of trying to open it again!!! Thinking of a similar problem I had on an old Rover before could this be a problem with the actual window mechanism inside the door. Looking at other posts which I have searched for all other electrical items are working normally, mirors etc.

Many Thanks for any advice Mark

I've had plenty of problems with the electric windows in my car. Replaced all the mechanisms once and the drivers twice. The dealer I first took it to said it was a common problem. Mine have all gone wrong in a similar fashion which is a clunky grinding, then a big clunk and the window drops to the bottom of the door. The cable basicaly wears the nylon pulley and eventually falls of and mangles itself up. I think it cost me about £120 fitted.

The regulators currently come in at about £45, and if you get a garage to fit it they'll probably ask for an hour's to an hour and a half in labour. Try to make sure you don't accidentally catch the window switch as I did, because mine jammed down and completely seized before I had a chance to get it fixed.

It's a common problem. Three of mine have gone. About £100 each fitted at local independent.

same thing happend to minne.cost me £176 back in 2008

was the belt system...not an easy job to do as a DIY..

I have a similar problem PLEASE HELP IM PULLING MY HAIR OUT Skoda Octavia Elegance 02

All my windows apart from the drivers side work.

When you press the button I can hear a relay clicking and assumed it would be the contoller in the door.

I replaced the contoller (from scrappers, seen working) and it did exactly the same.

So I thought it could be the motor which I also got from the scrappers and it still does not work.

I have also tried new switches aswell

ANY IDEAS CARNT THINK WHAT IT COULD BE????

THANKS IN ADVANCE

PLEASE HELP VERY STUCK

fixed it. It had 2 faults.

One of the 12V was faulty and the controller was faulty aswell.

If anybody wants a Drivers side window motor or a electric wondow/central locking switch panel let me know.

I've got a similar problem with my Octavia 2. Lots of knocks then a bang with the window dropping a couple of inches. Tried the up button and got lots more knocks. Got the window to close by wobbling the glass and pressing up. It took several attempts with the window moving about a quarter of an inch each time.

I've tried to remove the door trim with no luck. Found two screws at bottom, three large and one small behind inside door handle, one small screw behind mirror control but still can't get it off. Have broken several plastic bits in my attempts so far. Anyone any advice, please?

Try posting a message titled something like "how do I remove the driver's door card?" in the Octy 2 forum. HTH.
