Google Chrome - pauses every few seconds

Featured Replies

Have any Google Chrome users out there noticed an issue with pausing?

Mine started doing it this week. I automativally receive the latest build, current on 4.0.249.78 beta (36714) but don't know when this was installed.

Since Wednesday, Chrome will hang for around 3 seconds and does this every 15 seconds or so - it's infuriating!!

Rest of the PC is unaffected, as is IE - all bookmarks moved over for now, but has anyone else experienced this?

I am on the same version on my win xp laptop, and I have been using the machine all day - seems to be ok. Have you closed Chrome down and checked there are no lost chrome.exe processes running? There is one per tab plus one "controller". It might be caused by a dodgy flash animation on a website.... check your CPU usage.

Everything seems to be in order - 2 processes running. The CPU usage spikes each time there is a pause. Still does it on basic pages with not a flash animation in sight...!

All very strange. No matter really - I haven't used Firefox for a while, and the latest version is actually rather good - better than Chrome actually, so I might make the switch a permanent one.
