Ordered new Octy vRS TDI DSG

Featured Replies

Finally ordered a Octy vRS TDI DSG in silver from Marlborough Skoda (via DrivetheDeal). Been after one for a while.

Current car is a 2005 Astra (don't laugh). But the car previous to that was my pride an joy - Mk4 Golf GTI - 210bhp. The reason I got put off the new Golf MK6 was the price and the boot size. The vRS is a lot of car for the price (plus the VAT offer helps!)

I used to be a member of the UK-MKIV's.net forum and the forum members were brilliant. Hope to enjoy my time on the forum chatting and sharing ideas with you guys.

Whilst I wait for the car I have a couple of questions which the dealers haven't clearly answered:

1) The paddle shifts on the DSG, are they useful or they just a gimmick?

2) I take it there is no Hill Control Hold on the vRS TDI DSG?

3) Does the iPhone work with the Bolero stereo via Bluetooth?

4) Does the Bolero stereo do bluetooth audio streaming?

5) Is is possible to retro add folding mirrors as this wasn't available as an option?

6) On my golf I got the locks programmed so that only drivers opened first and also all the doors auto locked after you went above 20mph, is this possible?

7) What other useful retro changes are possible?

8) Do we get the Auxillary heating function in this country on the vRS TDI, if so how easy is it to enable it?

Sorry for bombarding with quite a few questions but as you can tell I am really excited  to be back with cars made by VAG and really looking forward to receiving mine's.

just the paddle shift question......there amazing you will use them all the time......

how much did you pay?

did you have any options fitted?

Yes very esp when driving around town with road humps etc.

2) I take it there is no Hill Control Hold on the vRS TDI DSG?

Nope

3) Does the iPhone work with the Bolero stereo via Bluetooth?

AFAIK no :(

4) Does the Bolero stereo do bluetooth audio streaming?

Nope

5) Is is possible to retro add folding mirrors as this wasn't available as an option?

Not sure but I'd be interested.

Yes its standard, use Maxidot...you DID order with Maxidot, didn't you????

7) What other useful retro changes are possible?

Most are setup from Maxidot, otherwise there is tear drop wipe, activating both rear fogs.

8) Do we get the Auxillary heating function in this country on the vRS TDI, if so how easy is it to enable it?

Don't think so.

I used same as you dtd, did you use the 0% as I have not heard back from them ref the credit check etc. But they have taken my deposit lol

I used dtd and they should have confirmed its gone through ok.

Same here - DTD and no contact ref 0% - also no confirmation email even though they've taken £1500 off my card. Need to phone Marlborough again to chase.

Maxidot is standard with DSG and you wont need hill hold as its an Auto ;)

HOW MUCH?

Its a factory order so they say the cost of the options. Suits me as its less I have to find 14 weeks down the line - I won't miss it so much when it has gone now....

Thx for the quick replies. My credit card's down by £1.5k so I take it the deposit has gone through. I rang Corporate sales @ Marlborough late on Friday and they said that they have received a large number of orders and are still catching up on the paperwork. Also I should be getting something back this week regarding the finance offer. Still not sure whether to go 0% or the HP deal.

I ended up going with the following options: metallic silver, bluetooth with maxi-dot, heated seats, front and reverse parking sensors (for the wife!), spare wheel and floor mats. The total came to £18,340 inc 12mths tax.

Is there any online literature on what can be programmed using the maxi dot?

It also appears that floor mats are standard on the vrs too.

I tried to cancel the order as my local dealer later came pack with an offer 200 pounds more with 12 months tax and only wanted a 500 pound deposit. It still has not come off my card. I phoned them and they assured me it was OK. Not so keen on dtd communication the dealer they use seem very friendly. Be careful about naming dealers as the dtd terms and conditions state you mustn't, and they probably have a team of lads to send round lol.

Well I haven't recieved any terms and it is wisely publicised that this is the dealer.

Prices will change all the time, just like two people going into a dealership.

I too have got an FL vRS CR DSG so can answer a few of your questions.

1. Paddle shift is something I wanted but haven't used a lot yet. Having said that it'a useful when you want to change down for an overtake, I can also see me using it on country roads when pushing on a bit.

2. Hill hold is included, extract from the manual - Uphill-Start off-Assist - The uphill-start off-assist makes it much easier to start off on steep hills. The system assists a start off by holding the brake pressure produced by the brake pedal actuation for approx. 2 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The driver can therefore move his foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal and start off on the slope, without having to actuate the handbrake. The brake pressure drops gradually the more you operate the accelerator pedal. If the vehicle does not start off within 2 seconds, it starts to roll back.

The uphill-start off-assist is active in the event of a 5% slope, if the vehicle door is closed. It is always active on slopes when in forward or reverse start off. When driving downhill, it is inactive.

3. Can't say for sure, I've read other posts saying yes and others saying no. I'd read that my Sony Ericsson would work, but I when I tried it wouldn't so ended up having to buy a Nokia.

4. Not that I know of, might be worth adding the MDI.

5. Have read that the wiring loom in UK cars is different and doesn't support folding mirrors, but would be interested to hear if anyone knows different.

6. This is enabled as standard, and can modified through Maxidot.

Hope this helps.

I've done another quote on D2D and it comes to: £18,339 which is exactly what I have paid. What options are you adding on? These are my options:

Multifunction steering with bluetooth (+£495), floormats (+£55), front and rear parking sensors (+£515), spare wheel (+£55), heated front seats (+£260) and metallic paint (+£410). The total options come to: £1790 + 12 mths tax (£67.50).

Thx for the reply. Especially the extract from the manual. My work phone is a Sony Ericsson C902 and I'll see if this works else I might swap it with missus's Nokia 5800.

Do you have a phone or e-mail add for her?
